It may be just me, but I can't see the point of 'Quick Reply' as it's just as easy to hit 'Reply' under each post. Pressing 'End' on my laptop now takes me to an empty form rather than the last post in a thread.
Or am I missing something? :confused1:

Mick, I believe "Quick Reply" was always there, just that previously only the heading was normally shown and you had to click on it to access.

Am I missing something still? Add image to post and still struggling to add photos of a phone. Or is it work in progress? Sensible answers please

Quote from: GrahamB on July 29, 2023, 08:15:45 AMThis seems to be a very low resolution version, the font takes me back to Sinclair ZX81 days.
Resolution seems fine to me, same as it was before.  Maybe the font used when typing a post is slightly different but it's not how the post is displayed.

The behaviour of the END key on your keyboard is a function of your web browser, not the forum. The default in most browsers is to go to the last displayable item on the page.

Which will always be a blank form in threads on this forum.
Maybe someone could explain the nuances between 'Quick Reply' and 'Reply' 'cos I sure as heck don't know them

Quote from: Ed on July 28, 2023, 09:47:23 AMI don't appear to be  getting email alerts when replies are made to a topic I started.

But I do get email alerts when one of my posts is quoted.

I've looked at the notification settings and put a tick in "Follow topics I create and reply to" (top left) and also changed "How frequently to tell me:" setting just below it, to 'immediately' ,but hasn't made any difference.

There doesn't appear to be any setting to receive an alert or an email when a topic I've started has been replied to, or am I missing something?

In the move, it does appear to have reset the alert options for threads created before the upgrade... I was initially getting alerts only for threads I've made additional contributions to since the upgrade. Simple matter though to go into the list and re-tick the box for those older threads I really want instant notification when someone replies. For the rest, I just read as and when via the "Updated Topics" list (equivalent to the old "New Replies to Your Posts") which is usually the first stop anyway when accessing the forum...

On some forum sites "Quick Reply" just gives you a text entry box and none of the other bells and whistles that opening a full "Reply" does.  Here the two options do seem pretty much identical other than Quick Reply doesn't have the options to set the message icon and notification options.

Quote from: GrahamB on July 29, 2023, 08:15:45 AMI'm a professional Luddite so bear with me.

Is this the "new" forum or the interim forum? I've just noticed I've lost all my thread alerts. This seems to be a very low resolution version, the font takes me back to Sinclair ZX81 days.

Can you screenshot for me please?  It's clear and crisp for me.

Reply gives you more options to add to your message compared to Quick Reply.  I haven't looked at the differences fully yet, but the whole idea of a Quick Reply is for the member to write a basic reply, quickly. ;D

8th time I've told you.  We're working on this.  Ban button very tempting...!   ;D

found the forever, still no clue about the message icon, or the 'reacted' on messages.

Having been reading posts regarding difficulty in uploading photos and inserting them in posts since the forum upgrade I thought I'd have a go as I've not needed to so far.

As a result I am confused. Absolutely nothing has changed. It is just as easy as it always has been on both laptop and phone and the process is identical.

In the box where you type your post it says add image to post and upload to gallery. Click on it and under select category pick random and choose file. Pick your photo then add picture and the photo appears on your post if you click preview.

Alternatively click on Gallery and pick 'random photos' (or your gallery) from the drop down menu then click on 'add picture'. On the next page it says upload picture and you click on the 'choose file' box beside it. Choose your file then click on add picture. The picture uploads and below it are a number of image linking codes. Click on the icon to the left of the first option which you can then paste into a post.

That's correct.  As I've said since March (?), the Gallery will be the same until we get the forum stable and gradually install the modifications that we had once before.  We've had so many issues that you guys wouldn't have noticed, and have been spending many hours sorting out.

I'm working with the developer of the current Gallery to see if we can implement a drag and drop feature for the gallery, so posts are easier to put photos into.  This will make it easier for those who don't mind their photos all going into the 'Random' folder (I don't like that name, and will change that!  :D ), but for those who like their photos to be stored in their own folders, then they will have to click the button in the posts and add the codes to the posts.

We're basically catering for two different ways that people want to store their items.
