I've got one back working,  but the other is being a right PITA, I keep getting error messages re drivers, or partitions, the latter even when I try installing Windows onto a blank freshly formatted SSD.
Also having problems going on line, works fine from the laptop but only intermittently from a PC, same cable, router and modem.
Cheers MIKE

Don't it make you wanna spit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As they say "To err is human. To really foul things up get a computer"

Or some kid in nappies who has no idea what they're talking about or doing, which is all I seem to encounter when dealing with phone issues.

Which reminds me, Vodafone Australia have "upgraded" their service, and I can't make or receive calls, even though text and data are fine. This means I have to GET A NEW PHONE!  :veryangry:

back where I belong [sorry @Trainfish]

with Hattons not having any paint stock I went on fleabay and ordered three cans from a seller.
wotta mistakea to makea [sorry been watching allo allo]

took 4 days for the seller to get something called collect + to pick up the parcel, and take it to a Yodel drop off point.
24 hrs for yokel to collect it from there
finally arrived at Gatwick yesterday, and 'loaded on van 08>22 - out for delivery' according to yokel's lying tracking site.
no updates so 'chatted' to a bot at lunchtime which said was with the driver at 09.15.
needless to say, no delivery.
tracking saying the same this morning so bot again.
apparently not due for delivery till 14th, so it's sitting in a van at Gatwick for 3 days.

why does anyone use this useless pile of  :poop: if they actually care about the service they give their customers.

another parcel via Herpes took only 5 days to arrive, and that included a weekend. so far yokel are on day 9 but the parcel is having a rest.

apparently yokel has been bought out by some other firm, couldn't have cost more than 50p. :veryangry:

I reckon your parcel is laid up with travel sickness, Alan

took HB out for his second walk this afternoon, and tripped over the parcel on the front doorstep, in the rain.
no ring on the doorbell, and the bot said it was sitting at Gatwick.

luckily rattle cans do not get wet, but what a useless pile of clowns.

still, at least I can now start spraying my models

Finally got them working again, had to get a technician in, took hi, about 3 hours, bad news however is all my pics, music etc lost, gonna take me a few days to recover what I can.
Cheers MIKE

Built in obsolescence.  :veryangry:

Well, I'm on a new phone typing this. A cheap one, but $300 nevertheless, and $300  I shouldn't have had to spend, as far as I'm concerned.

Why? Because my provider (Vodafone, by the way) upgraded to 5G. I haven't been able to make or receive voice calls for a month.

As the original function of a phone was to do just that, it's kinda ironic that I can still use my old phone to do everything but that.

Frustrating, but you'll have to do "better" to beat what happened to me.

YODEL tried to deliver a GF 2-8-0 Locomotive from Hattons, package clearly marked fragile with red/white stickers on both main faces, unavoidable to miss.

No tracking info, so no-one home.

SO, he threw it over a locked 6' wooden gate on a 3' wide concrete surface side access. Must have really thrown it as it was on the floor 12' plus along the alley, exposed to rain (and it was).

Then he put a card through the door.  6 hours later I got home from work................

Yes, it was trashed, valve gear broken both sides, totally obliterated one side, wet through box to plastic liner (the older style packing).

And the REAL irony?

I'd had issues with Yodel before and so had specifically instructed Hattons to use Royal Mail ONLY.

They still decided it'd get their faster with YODEL...........

That was quite a long time ago now, and it STILL winds me up!

YODEL have been bought by a consortium called YDLGP.  Its a moot point if the livery will be rainbows with carefully chosen and announced pronouns.

YODEL revenue was over £561 million in previous financial year and they employ "thousands", hopefully at least some not having the seemingly standard from long and bitter experience amoeba brains, though sadly I have not met them.

Around here we get VERY good reliable service from DPD and (surprisingly?) most times from My Hermes/EVRI.  I am concerned though as DPD are moving my area from Dartford depot to Croydon, an area of it renowned for traffic gridlock.

My local "Collect" shop usually managed to lose anything I get sent there, and I have not only waited nearly an hour while they searched (between other customers) but on one occasion had to leave and return two days later. Allegedly it was flagged as delivered for collection when it wasn't.  THAT supplier not only repaid me the full carriage charge, but paid me for the 120 mile round trip I was forced to make TO collect it.

I'm lucky here too with DPD and Evri, both having drivers who seem to care about their service to customers.

but you can have fun with firms that think you have a smartphone, they try so hard to get you to do things, then you say the 'but it isn't working on my flip phone' and their heads explode. :claphappy:

Our landline can be fun - the phone in the living room is a 1940s, rotary dial phone ... so no tones, no hash and no star.

thebrighton

Quote from: thebrighton on January 02, 2024, 02:51:00 PMTo improve the patient service Eastbourne and Hastings hospitals combined a few years ago so each could specialise in certain areas. On the face of it a good idea but not so in practice.

It seems that without fail the service required is always in Hastings whilst we live in Eastbourne. Indeed, if I look out the upstairs windows I can see Eastbourne hospital!

My son needs to see a specialist and after a 6 month wait his appointment has come through and, of course, it's in Hastings. Trouble is it's 3 appointments, Monday, Wednesday and Friday in one week all at approx midday. He has no way of getting there, it's 20 miles and 45 minutes by car so I would have to take him and then pay the extortionate car park fees. It would also mean both of us taking all 3 days off work. Alternatively if in Eastbourne it would take him 5 minutes to pop in from work.

As a result I rang them as I know they have clinics at both hospitals for his condition. "Yes, we can arrange for the appointment to be in Eastbourne but he'll have to rejoin the 6 month waiting list".

Aaaargh!

Luckily by making himself available 24/7 my son managed to have his 3 appointments this week so only just under an 8 months wait but just when you think things are happening good old red tape reappears on the horizon.

He has a skin problem and this week had 50 different chemicals applied to his back to see if any resulted in an allergic reaction. If there is no reaction he is referred further up the chain or so we were led to believe.

All results were negative but the consultant said we needed to make an appointment back with our surgeries dermatologist so he could refer my son on. Evidently the hospital can't do this so lets add in another appointment that wastes everybody's time.

Back to our surgery we go to make this pointless appointment but no, the dermatologist has left the surgery and my son can't be booked straight in to see the new dermatologist but has to be referred by his doctor so we have to make an appointment to get an appointment to be referred to another appointment and, of course, we can't see his doctor for another 2 weeks.

It's almost like they make it as difficult as possible in the hope you'll give up.
