I tried a search to see if anything came up, but I pulled a blank, so I ask the members here if they have had any experience with the shapeways Mk3 SLEP that is supposed to be a replacement shell for Dapol coaches.
Are they accurate (or close enough to be passable), is it a solid shell (ie not flimsy or easily breakable), how are they to paint and decal, what extra detail parts would be needed?
Thanks for any info and help, I'm trying to create a sleeper rake and as the main manufacturers seem to be passing over them this looks to be the only option.
If its up to CMAC Models usual standard it will be very good. I built his Adelante last year and it was excellent.
My advice is go for the smoothest fine detail plastic.

I agree, also don't file with a coarse file as it frays the surface, a good Swiss fine file is OK, even better use a fiberglass pen to burnish the surface to remove printing aberrations.
Once you have given it a good spray acrylic undercoat any paint type will work.
That looks an interesting build, I'll be looking forward to seeing your results.

Now this is a very interesting find indeed.
I shall look into this, as I have been wanting a few decent Mk3 sleepers for a while, especially a rake in IC Swallow livery. More than happy to spray them up. Both Farish and Dapol have missed a trick once again with these. Now just to get a few GUV's in swallow livery...

@Only Me (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=1328) Sprayed one of your 128 Parcel cars up with enamel, no issues what so ever mate. Careful preparation is the key, same with a few other 3D prints.

Re enamel versus acrylic I've painted stacks of 3d printed stuff (FUD) and it really is hit and miss. I have had some success with enamel but that is the exception rather than the rule with some that just will not dry. I had 3 wagons all cleaned and prepared the same way and sprayed with enamel, one was fine the others a failure. As most colours are available in acrylic I don't feel it is worth the risk or time wasted if it goes wrong using enamel.
Interesting, hadn't seen those. The problem is that without a decent mk2e they would stand out though, if you use Electra vinyls on Farish shells you at least get some consistency in the rake.
The 90 is very interesting indeed, for $25 I'll have a punt on one of those!
