Title: England Cricket T20/ODIs
Post by: Philip. on August 28, 2020, 11:36:09 AM
Today is the first of 3 T20s against Pakistan [providing the Manchester weather plays ball] The second one on Sunday is live on BBC 1, first time in years I reckon, the Beeb has had live Cricket.

Following on from Pakistan, England play Australia in 3 T20s and 3 ODIs, should be quite a finish to Summer, fingers crossed.

Won't that be classed as Winter as there'll be a load of sledging going on ;)

Tom Banton played some sublime shots and showed his team mates how to do it. Not a slogfest but very controlled.

A bit of a wobble in the middle part but chased well in the end and a good win for England

Morgan is an astute captain and solid batsman. Wonder why jordan was not bowling overs 18 and 20

Curran seems to be the go to bowler for those overs recently, but they were all off a bit today

Moeen Ali?  ???

Denly instead of Root in the T20s  :confused2: :hmmm: and why no Zak Crawley. You'd think they'd pick the best available against the Aussies.

Well played Pakistan, a good win to end the series and for once didn't choke towards the end.

They seemed to have found a real talent in 19 year old Haider Ali, his batting with 39 year old Hafeez was a treat to watch. Now it's time to bring on the Aussies  :)

So...it's the Aussies this evening.
I always look forward to the chance to give them a good hiding  :D
"Bowl it at 95mph up around their ears, they don't like that"

Probably just enough to make a game of it (hopefully).

A pretty dismal batting performance by England who were saved only by an even more dismal performance by the Aussies ::)

Excellent result :claphappy:
The English bowlers really cramped up the Aussies, and it was great to see Steve Smith run out :)

The opening burst from Archer [where's he been all summer] and Wood was brutal, and really shook Australia, they never really recovered.

I saw an amusing riposte on a BBC website.

One guy had posted "The Aussies looked a bit rusty" to which another replied "Nothing a bit of sandpaper won't sort out mate "  :)

Uh-oh. Hope this doesn't prevent a whitewashing of the Aussies.......

An ECB statement read: "England batsman Jos Buttler left the bio-secure bubble yesterday evening following the team's victory over Australia to be with his family. He will miss England's final Vitality IT20 against Australia on Tuesday at the Ageas Bowl.

"Buttler, subject to testing, will return to the bio-secure bubble on Thursday ahead of the first ODI of the Royal London Series at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday."

I'm a big fan of Jos Buttler and in these extraordinary times it must be so hard being away from family for extended periods but the international summer will be over for England in just over a weeks time and with no England games for the foreseeable future he will have plenty of time with his family then.

Or could it be something to do with the fact he's clearing off in September to play in the IPL until November?

There maybe other reasons to go home that we are not privvy to of course.

And is Morgan ruled out because of his finger?

Probably not but let's hope so.

Well, well, well.
I didn't see that coming at 8.15!
Great bowling by England and great captaincy by Morgan.

True, but again sloppy fielding and openers not getting decent scores. They do like to keep us in suspense!

Just a thought ahead of today's game............

Archer might bowl even faster if he ditched his bling ::)
