What's the go of that?

Presumably the pump and nozzle aerate the liquid to an extent that the quantity of the liquid in the foam is so low that the colour is almost indetectable. It may also be that the bubbles in the foam are very reflective, thereby giving the white appearance.

It's the same with the old-fashioned Fairy washing up liquid - a dark green liquid but all the bubbles that are created are white - as well as keeping mummy's hands so soft, according to the adverts

I remember those old adverts. 

It's disconcerting to me, though. Almost magic. 

Suppose it's a bit like grinding clear glass up - you end up with white powder. Likewise you put white solid salt into water and you end up with clear liquid.

But the scientist side of me agrees with you.... it's aeration. I just didn't think of that because it took me by surprise. I was expecting sticky green liquid!

Put your index fingers tip to tip, six or so inches from your nose, you'll see a sausage!

Take them apart, the sausage shrinks and floats in midair.
