Hope there was a beer waiting for you in the fridge when you got home ?

Oh Lordy. The Bealman has been released back into the wild/community :o
The return of the Giant Hogweed might have nothing on this :uneasy: (old Genesis track)
However, bells are being rung in both the brewery and the hospital.
Just don't try moon walking please, George

you will have to take a chair out to run your railway.

You could put it on rails and shout "chuff chuff" as you go along.  ;D
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.

Nice to hear you are out and about, George. The club will be glad to see you back, they had to lay one bar staff off due to your absence. 😁
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Good to hear you up and about George, you will soon be flying round on those crutches when you get used to them.

Bealman

Thanks, everyone!

John and Joe: Mrs B thoughtfully had a fridge full of 'em waiting  :beers:

Martin: Already done. Geez that first one off the keg tasted magic.  :pint:

Mick: And end up looking like Michael Jackson? I've got enough problems  :D

David: Great idea!

Malc: Well, strange, that. When the General Manager saw me, he was straight over, shook me hand, and the first one was on the house  :uneasy:

Thanks again, folks. Much appreciated.  :beers:

Congratulations on your release!

In other happy news, an Australian graffiti vandal has been apprehended in Japan for crimes against trains and aesthetics in general, I do hope he enjoys his PrisonBnB stay, they take these things seriously here.

Bealman

They've got long memories too, obviously! Looks like the goose was coming back to do it again!

Chris: sorry for missing you in my post! On phone and thought I'd thanked everyone.

Cheers George  :beers:

Today I was officially put on notice of being at risk of redundancy - 3 months from now I will no longer work for my current employer! Hoo  :censored: Rah!

Back in November, my employer started the process of restructuring, badly and without following due process - they were flouting both statutory legislation and their own statutes & rules. With the support of union colleagues, we've made them step back and restart the process correctly. A small win that'll hopefully have lasting impact at my place of employment.

When I was made redundant aged 53 I had only worked for 2 companies in my (then) 36 years of working and found it quite traumatic. I wish you all the best in finding what you want.

The Q

Unfortunately I've found the older you get the harder it is to find reasonable employment. They want cheap youngsters that mysteriously have gained the experience.
I've been made redundant 3 times, and once had the company in the UK move out from under me while I was away working abroad for them, giving me the choice of a 400 mile house move or leave.
I've only once chosen to leave at which point I got the position I'm in, which must exist as long as the factory is open. I've resisted different jobs out in the main factory as they can come and go, and I've only 3.5 years to retirement.

Generally I've found each move eventually worked out in my favour, even when I had a 3 year spell as a maintenance man with Tesco before getting back into my trade here.

So there is hope out there...Good luck with your future..

Thanks for the supportive messages! :beers:

When this process was first (badly) started in November '18, I think I posted in the Unhappy Thread. I'm 56 and a little daunted by the fact this change is not of my choosing, when all previous employment changes have been my call. But, ultimately, I'm only optimistic. Hence why I'm now posting in the Happy Thread.

I've worked in engineering all my life. Started out in airframe systems with the RAF and now in IT systems specialising in Microsoft solutions. Funding will be made available for training and I intend to exploit that to the fullest and hope to gain certification in Amazon Web Services.

Most of the systems I administrate have already been migrated over to the new service provider, so I've lots of time on my hands in the working day. Along with MBH, I'm looking forward to our first holiday in years and finishing some outstanding DIY jobs.

If it wasn't for that pesky brexit... :D

Having been involved in broadcast installations since the 90's, and in the last few years in automation, I found the industry moving from video to IP solutions. The one thing you really need on the team, not just in broadcasting, is someone who can configure big CISCO switches. If they are offering free training, I would opt for one of their training courses.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.
