That is so true. If I get a notification from 'DPD' that Jason will deliver a parcel between 9 and 10, I know I will get it - usually nearer 9 than 10. If the notification states that another driver will deliver it, I usually get the parcel 24 hours later!

I've just spent 10 minutes trying to work out and 10 seconds googling to find out what ISTM means. I still have no idea how it fits into the current topic of delivery drivers though unless you're waiting for some "travel medicine" to be delivered. We usually just go to the chemist and stock up on Imodium.

According to my stepson, (AKA ORTS - Occasionally Resident Technical Support), this is also known as PICNIC (Problem In Chair, Not In Computer). I think he regards his mother as the embodiment of this...

For us computer nerds, there are 4 kinds of "ware" in computing:

Hardware - the computer itself
Firmware - the programs embedded within the hardware that make it work properly
Software - the stuff you run on the hardware
Wetware - the individual driving the software...

Problems are often to be found in the wetware...

Curiously, the definitions of wetware I know is the human element in computing, anything biological.

Unfortunately quite often it might be the wetware that wrote the software that caused the original problem.. ask any sub postmaster.

I have just watched a couple of railway videos ie "The very best of UK steam trains on the mainline in 2023/ part 1 and part 2. Very good too!. So many of the shots are the locos coming round corners at the beginning of the shot. Why are us railway modellers paranoid about having curves at each end of our layouts, covering them with tunnels etc. so pleased now I only have tunnels at one end of my layout.

Those of us who model 'roundy roundy' layouts have to have their trains coming from 'Somewhere' and going to 'Elsewhere' and are generally limited for space so we hide each end

Yes that's my point mick, just have a cutting with trees on both sides, that's what I have done on my high level track on the right side, the lower track I have a station based on the old Heywood station.

I agree, if the landscape allows cuttings e.g. @Nbodger layout 'Hillsden' but my plan and size of layout doesn't let me do that. What really bugs me is the number of show layouts I see with trains just disappearing through a hole in the backscene with little or no attempt to disguise it
