Hi

While doing some layout planning, I came across the Minitrix N Scale Dreh-Schiebebühne (Rotary Slide) Transfer Table & Turntable, part number 56 6513 00.

This is a combination of a turntable and a traverser. It looks like it was originally made a few years ago, and the new Minitrix transfer table doesn't have the turntable function.

There is a short video of it in operation
.

Does anyone know if this is based on a particular prototype or if it is just a very clever thing that Minitrix made?

Thanks

Alan

No idea, but I tend to think the latter.

There were indeed a few combined turntable/traversers in Germany (notably at the Reichsbahn research centre Grunewald and at the Trier depot) but Minitrix's is not modelled after a particular prototype.

A friend of mine Robin had a traverser on a very small layout called Divorce Lane but I dont think it had a turntable as well ,it was a long time ago .
He also had a working overhead container crane .

It's a neat piece of kit but very noisy in 'turntable mode'.
People at shows would be running for cover :worried:

(Nice locos, by the way)

It's a shame that it is quite so noisy. I wonder if it were made today if the drive system could be quieter.

Thanks

Thanks, I did think that something must have inspired Minitrix.
