I have just received an email from the national archives as this year is the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Central Office Of Information. (How many of you knew that? ???).

"To mark this milestone, we have teamed up with British Film Institute and Imperial War Museums to showcase our shared government films collections - which is now open for exploring!"

I went to the site and typed 'Railways' in the search box - it came back with 828 results!  On the first page it showed results that mention Beeching, Victorian Railways, Cabinet Papers, Railway Workers and Interwar Policy amongst others. There is no way I have time now to go through everything, but I thought it might interest some of you, (when you have an hour or two to spare), especially if the search term is narrowed down a bit.

I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.

Just to clarify, in case anyone's getting excited about there being 828 railway films on TNA's website: simply searching for "railways" on TNA's homepage is giving you all the occurrences of that word in the main website (webpage text, research guides, etc.), not just references to railway films. As TNA holds a large chunk of the archives of all British railway companies, plus the archives of the government departments that regulates them, that's not surprising.

I couldn't see a link on the homepage to the moving images that dannyboy referred to though?
