He's been around for yonks but I still think Chris Rea is an underated singer/songwriter/guitarists. Here are a couple of tracks amongst others I've been listening to today

I've never really listened to Chris Rea at all (apart from Drivin' home for Christmas, I'm afraid but I'll give it a go later when I'm in the train room.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Both very nice tracks Mick @Newportnobby and not ones that I have heard before.

I went through a period of liking his work starting with "On The Beach", which I first heard on a cruise down the Nile back in 1987. We went to see him in Brighton in 2006 and had a posh box. Unfortunately, Chris Rea hardly said a word during the set and the whole evening fell a bit flat as a result of his strange demure. Only by the last few songs did things start to liven up. A disappointment for us I am afraid. Around the late 70/80s he had a top notch backing band including Max Middleton (keys).

With a back catalogue of 25 studio and 1 live albums there is a lot to chose from Martin @port perran - not mention compilations.

I haven't listened to him for a long while.

Cheers,

Tim

I listened to the 1991 album Auberge whilst running a few trains on the layout a little earlier.

Do I like it?

Well, the answer is that I'm not really sure. It is certainly very listenable with a few standout tracks  but I'll reserve judgement until I hear a bit more tomorrow.

Try the first 3 tracks on 'God's great banana skin', Martin (2 of which I posted above)
