Never fails to give me goosebumps, does that.
Such a big voice.
That and 'Us and Them' are my favourite tracks off DSOTM

"DSOTM" for me is Pink Floyd's best album and still sounds as fresh as a daisy - I think Alan Parson's input helped a lot. "WYWH" is good but a slight disappointment. I now have "Animals" 2018 Remix and think it is excellent and a little underrated (I only had a cassette tape recording of it). "The Wall" is too long and could be edited down it a good single album - by now Roger Waters seemed to be in control and some of it I don't really like.

I don't have any further PF studio albums with the exception of the "The Endless River". I do though have a number of CDs/DVDs of live recordings of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour. I have not bothered with any of Roger Waters, Syd Barret's or Rick Wright's solo output but Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets was pretty good. David Gilmour's solo output is a little hit and miss at times.

I agree Mick, "The Great Gig in the Sky" is inspired - IIRC poor old Clare only got £30 for doing that.

I never liked The Wall it was a Rodger Walters ego indulgence just as The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was for Peter Gabriel, and in both cases they left their bands shortly afterwards.

And so we head off in another musical direction. I bought this CD from reading a review and I was not disappointed. Firstly, a masterclass in live recording and secondly a great performance by Patricia Barber (vocals and keys) and her band, so here is "Use Me" from the CD "Companion"...

There are a few covers on the CD including "The Beat Goes On" and a rather unusual version of "Black Magic Woman". She has 14 releases under her belt to date.

Cheers,

Tim

Sorry, Tim. Not one for me. I thought it very reminiscent of the Fast Show's 'Jazz Club'

I really like Patricia Barber with her somewhat intriguing voice.
However, I hadn't heard Use Me before and I have to say it isn't really for me.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Some cool jazz from an album 'Jazz on a Summer's Day' (as it's pissistently raining outside :rain: )

Some of you oldies might know the first and where it was frequently heard......

and a slightly more frenetic track off the same album by 'Weather Report'.....

Moonglum

Not a bad compilation CD that Mick @Newportnobby ! "Birdland" got played so many times on Jazz FM at one time I got a bit fed up with it, thankfully there are many good other tracks on "Heavy Weather" - probably Weather Report's best album - although I have always liked "Mysterious Traveller".

Cheers,

Tim
