Graham Farish Model Versions?

Just bought a Graham Farish by Bachmann Class 47 which is really noisey compared to a another Bachmann Class 25. Is it a case of different models are actually noiser than others or is it because they build in different factories?

If you've had it a while, the difference is probably as simple as the 25 is run in, and the 47 should quiten down a bit when it had had some lubrication and time for the transmission to bed in...

Thanks, Was really worried as it was way louder than the 25. Guess i'll let it run in each direction and see how it goes

The 47 is a completely different design chassis, so not immediately comparable with the 25.

If it's noisy then it may need overhaul (presumably it's secondhand?). If it's new, it'll need running in before you can decide if there is an issue.

Farish only have one factory

Both were brand new, 47 seems to be quieting down a little but just thought it was odd for one to be silky smooth and another so notchy sounding. Thanks for reply!

Lubricate the worm bearings, this will likely help (need to pull off the bogies and a little drop of lubricant on the brass coloured bearings at the end of each worm).

Some locos are noisier simply because of the larger plastic body resonating the sound of the motor. I found my 57 was also quite noisy so I added strips of insulating tape to the sides of the body on the inside and this deadened the sound quite considerably. The Farish 66 seems to suffer this also.

The later farish 47's have made in China under fuel tanks.

And the fuel tanks on early 47's always fell off.

Thanks Guy's for the help, Seems I'm buying all the noisy locomotives, Just bought a Class 66

I'll definitely lube the gears before I run them in. Bachmann E-Z Lube is the right stuff?
