Kitbash a Card Kit
« on: June 07, 2012, 09:46:00 pm »
Welcome to the new project.

Your mission this time is to make one of those card kits your own, by kitbashing it  ;D this could be adding bits or combining kits, adding extra detail or even down sizing it.  As long as it is railway / layout related and you build it in such a manner that it is quite different from the original (no, sticking different chimneys on doesn't count  ;) )

As usual, please start your own thread in this section chronicling your project, with pictures, hints, tips and materials used to ensure we can all learn from it.

There are no restrictions on size, country or era but obviously it would make sense to build something that can be used on your own layout.

So, it must be card, it must be railway / layout related and it must differ from the original design.

Have fun and enjoy the project

This sounds very apealing, gives me a chance to personalise my station building, will try find the metcalfe kit to modify methinks although the model shop near me is very disapointing and the model zone in Hull isnt much better. Not really sure of any other card kit makes O.O
OK who took my cake?

Why don't you download the free stuff from www.scalescenes.com, that way you could muck about and it has cost very little  ;)

Have got them but they don't float my boat at the moment - not what I want for the layout.
May try one of the Wordsworth  ones instead.

I'm gutted I wasn't around when the diorama contest happened. I think I might do both so I can catch up. This will be great practice for my scenery building!

Sorry to double post:

Does it have to be a kit or can I b***rdise a net and print it myself so that it is in essence, my own card kit design?

I think the rules are fairly loose as there is no actual winner.  We just use the whole thing to share ideas and try new things.  So I would say go for it and we might all learn from you.

A net is what you get when you unfold something made from paper. The simplest one you do in school is a cube net.

So essentially I make it in Blender 3D, texture it then mark the seams and print it to a net then bash it together. I could make anything.
