I wonder how many Desiros is too many...not entirely sure how many I have (though one might have ended up in China).

Given we're getting a 321 from Revolution, and a 319 from Farish, the suburban WCML is pretty much nailed. So for folks doing post-privatisation and contemporary settings, I doubt there is a "too many". And at £22.50 a carriage, this £90 EMU compares rather favourably to Mk1 coaches at current prices!!!

Cheers, NeMo

Just found a Shapeways page with Scotrail 380 3D prints, wonder if the EMU experts out there think the 350 would be suitable donor for under a 380 project?

Cheers
Mark

380s (like 444s) are 23m, whilst 350s and 450s are 20m coaches. So sadly, no.

The single power-bogie construction of the 350 does make it suitable if you are prepared to splice the chassis for the extra length.

Could you use one as the donor chassis for a 465 Networker?

I imagine all the underframe equipment will be totally wrong, but as the basis for one no reason it wouldn't work.

For anyone on the fence about picking up the Farish Class 350 'Desiro' EMU, there's a sweet deal on them today at Rails: £70 for the 350/1 in LM livery, and £80 for the 350/2 in LM livery and the 350/1 in unbranded Silverlink livery.

One day only though!

They’ve been £80 for about 6 months, and the LM ones have been discounted variously in between. But yes, a bargain nonetheless. I don’t need a tenth one.  :confused1:

Thanks Nemo for the heads up on that offer.

Been debating for a while and that price is just too good to refuse. One now ordered....

Most welcome, chaps!

I ride these every day, so have a soft spot for them. It's even better when I ride on 350 101, which is the same as the Farish model 350/1 that I've got!

I quite like them I must say, particularly in London Midland livery. Keep flirting with converting one to sound, as they’re rather distinctive.
