Dapol Class 56 - no lights
« on: July 09, 2018, 11:15:24 am »
I have recently received a Dapol Class 56 direct from Dapol. On the test track, it runs perfectly and, initially, the lights worked. However, after a couple of minutes - no lights  ???. I have just tried the engine again but the lights still do not work. I have taken the body off but can not see anything obviously wrong and the plugs look intact. I have spoken to Dapol and there is no problem sending it back, but just thought I would ask if anyone knows of a quick fix?
David.

Hi

Not much help but I had two of their class 66's and both lost a red LED's at one end very quickly, so I suspect they have a QC issue with their LED supplier.

PCB failure is common on Dapol models - in particular the BAT54C diodes that burn out very easily.

As a new model I'd request them to repair or replace it.

Cheers,
Alan

The bat 54c as Alan says is your culprit... its under the pcb that holds the six pin chip

Well, I am not playing about with my BAT54C - no way   ;D. As agreed with Dapol, back it goes.  :thankyousign:
