Dapol Terrier Help wanted
« on: June 29, 2018, 09:15:08 pm »
I have a SR Dapol Terrier which has run successfully for many months but with only light usage. It has 'given up the ghost ' for some unknown reason and we cannot figure out how to get at the 'works'. Dapol Care/Maintenance sheets give no info and I cant find any other detail.
Can anybody help us with advice on how to dismantle so that we can see motor/gears etc. Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I dismantled one but I seem to recall the body is attached to the footplate by 4 tabs, 1 on each tank side and 1 on each bunker side. It's just a case of unclipping them, you should be able to see them under the footplate.

Hi

I have (I hope) attached a pdf of the DCC fitting instructions for the Terrier. This includes how to take the thing apart and put it back together.

If the attachment doesn't come through get back to me and I will try another method.

Neil

Many thanks to you all for the info received. I am sure the combined information  will enable us to identify and [maybe] correct our problem.
Thank you Neil for the pdf safely also received. It will also be of use as my personal layout is DCC but the Terrier is only used on my club DC set up.
Thanks again to you all. Regards Johnk

I've found that getting the body back on properly is another problem. If you don't do it correctly then the motor bumps up against it and provides jerky movement for the loco.
