A plan I did for NGS door layout challenge in 2011 but never submit. It is 2000 x 700 mm, it has gradients and a helix, probably more challenging to build, though it has hidden storage tracks. Hidden sections a not shown. I added these plans to give a feel of how things could fit.

Sorry for cutting my post to pieces, but this forum is forbidding me to post more than two pictures at a time

Hi there - what software are you using for the layout plans?

Remember to drill out holes to allow the cabling to run 'neatly' [  ;) ] through that nice looking framework!

Dave G

Don't forget to drill holes in the cross members to thread wiring through. It all gets a bit difficult when the top is on!

Pay attention in class, young lad :telloff: :P

Sometimes it's worth repeating good advice!  :moony:

These plans are done in Railmodeller, it is macOS only. On Windows I have AnyRail installed, but that computer is used very seldom.

Here you go. I integrated all images into one, to work around the posting limitation.

Top is the ground level. The +xx values are millimeter over ground.

Middle is the intermediate level. The green ends connect to the visible layout section already shown. Please note, that the green track starting at the top should descent to about 72 mm height only and stay there until it goes into the helix at the bottom right. It should be at 72 mm to not interfere with the magenta track of the helix. This is an error I probably made while fiddling and not finishing it.

Bottom is both hidden layers stacked on top of each other.

The smallest radius is the green curve to the left with about 250 mm. That should be fine for modern models requiring 2nd radius curves. The inner circle of the helix is about 280 mm radius.

thats a board 7ft 8 x 2 ft 6 inches to me. i would try putiing a pencil down on your board and marking a plan and then track without fic=xing it eg just lie pieces down without inserting fishplates and seeing what works

Hi Chris. This sound like could be a good plan. I only have pecoset track starter at the moment..  So not really a full amount of track.. But either way simply drawing it might actually help.
Just don't want to get radius turns wrong.
Thanks
