Outland: Kit A, Modern Office Block.
« on: April 21, 2018, 10:09:22 am »

Arrived from China/Hong Kong yesterday, an Outland kit for a modern office block.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5Pcs-Set-Outland-Building-Model-N-Scale-Gauge-1-150-Scene-Modern-House-Apartment/312048809934

Costing the princely sum of £5.99 including postage (so no VAT or import duties!) the plastic kit is a fairly basic flat-pack with no instructions.  Parts clip together without glue.  Don't be afraid to apply a bit of pressure to force the pegs/tabs into the holes as they're designed to deform slightly to provide a good interference fit.

The finished building from the front, build time exactly 15 minutes including working it out and taking photos.  The eagle-eyed will note I've got the base upside down so the tiles aren't visible :-[

The finished building from the back.  No glazing or interior details are included.

Now the base is the correct way up!  In summary a very basic kit for a very basic price.  Mine had a couple of deformities in the window frames which should be easy enough to fix with bits of scrap plastic and filler, but otherwise no complaints.

Would do 'as is' for a background building but could also benefit from a glue-based build and a little work to hide the joins, possibly with interior detailing and painting.

Highly recommended at the price, I'll be investigating some more of the range

Some of those look really good for the price. With a little kit bashing some look very useful.

As it is a basic plastic kit, do you think it would be easy enough to cut it down and make, say, a three storey building?  ???

I have been looking at what is available from Outland and have decided to go for the 'Modern Garage Logistics Centre'. Asking £5.12p with free postage.  I am thinking of using it as my Royal Mail distribution centre, but even if it is no good, what's a fiver? (Actually, I have offered £4.50p!).  :)

I canít see any reason why not. Indeed the grooves between floors are ideal guides for cutting

I think our ex-mod Pengi would have a field day putting interiors and lighting into that!
