L'esprit de Lavaux
« on: December 09, 2017, 11:22:19 am »
Just wanted to get on to this board before the end of the year!

The tables (and negotiated space) are all set and ready for the base board - to be bought in the new year!

Hoping that Santa will bring me some track and trains to play with!!

Cheers all and have a great holiday and looking forward to the New Year!  :beers:

This was insisted upon ... along with the caveat that "You pack all this stuff away when we've got guests!"
 :censored:

It is really an anti-slip type mat that was under a carpet we don't have now.

Hi Greywolf,

Glad your in the blocks if not quite up and running.

Looking forward to your new year build.

Cheers weave  :beers:

PS. Top tip regarding guests. If you get drunk and insult them they tend not to come back. I don't know if it's the same in Switzerland but the British reserve will mean they would be too polite to tell the other half why they don't come back for years or even ever.

No guests, no layout moving. Problem solved  :D

This is why pubs were invented!  :beers:

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL HERE!

Quick update on progress ... I'm about to start the wood working!

Have got the battons all cut to size, and you can also see one of the boards in the background.

As recommended I've drilled holes for wires in the inner battons - and decided to number them so I'd remember what goes where!

So here goes ... wish me luck! Cheers!  :beers:

Have done it now!

The baseboards are made and joined together ... and my first (ever) oval track is laid down!

Running DC for the moment as it came with the starter pack.

More later ... cheers!  :beers:

That's a big reach, there Wolfie.... I assume the table moves away from the wall?

Not shown in the photo is that I can stand at the other side of the baseboard too, as it is in a loft space ... and if I breath in  I can even fit at the far end also.

 Cheers :beers:

Excellent progress, although once trains start running things do tend to progress more slowly....

Be very careful in using twisted wires for DCC as it can cause crosstalk in the DCC signal and result in strange things happening.   :worried:

I think the received wisdom is the opposite of this.
