Thanks for the heads-up. I will be keeping an eye out when these appear.

I have recently flogged a few pieces on eBay so I will probably go an patronise my LMS.
Well, that's just not good enough. Some fount of all knowledge you are!   ;)

The Farish website shows all variants to be arriving in the next 60 days. Hallelujah, brethren!

Kris

The Dapol one was first produced in 2004 and was a rendition of an original GWR design. the Farish one dates from 2017 and is a rendition of a BR design not built until after nationalisation, so the Farish one won't ever be produced in GWR livery.

The Farish one also benefits from the improvements in design that have taken place over the past 13 years. Particularly evident will be the thin appearance of the roof on the Farish one compared to the roof on the Dapol one, and close coupling on the bogies too. The original Dapol Autocoach had original spring couplings (non NEM) from the Siphon and had very long coupling bars. When Dapol revised their Autocoach with NEM couplings, they also put them straight back onto the Siphons which is why the Siphons coupling pockets stick out so far.

Should be no contest and Farish wins on this one, unless you want one in chocolate and cream, that is.

In a sense the Dapol one is even older. I believe it is a shoot-down of the old airfix 00 autocoach. It certainly shares the same blend of features from more than one prototype. The Dapol B-sets are similar in this regard.

I could be wrong but the dapol one certainly looks like a scaled down airfix auto-coach rather than one that was developed from scratch.

So when the postie rolls up with one, you'll be straight on the phone to Hattons, arranging to return their mistaken delivery? And then you'll explain to SWMBO what wonderful people Hattons are that they refused to inconvenience you by asking for it back?

Sounds a great plan...   ;D

Digitrains had a few auto coaches for sale at Model Rail Scotland. I couldn't resist buying one in British Railways Crimson. It is a lovely model, well up to the high standard of other recent N gauge models (and up to the standard you'd expect for the price). I'll post some pictures of it on my layout once I get home.

My BR maroon version arrived an hour ago and here it is posed on Bletchford behind my 64xx pannier..............

'Tis certainly a thing of beauty but, at a few pence short of 30, my spending on coaches will be very limited in the future. It comes with a pack of detailing parts for the drive end and a diagram showing how/where to mount them.

Pretty much my thoughts having received a crimson one this morning.  Mind you, look at the price of it's bigger sibling:
