J38
« on: December 23, 2015, 10:10:44 am »
I've just received a 'used' J38 from Rails of Sheffield via eBay.

First impressions are that it really does run well, even over my complex Fleischmann point work at the throat of a station yard. While it's not super detailed it certainly looks good on the layout.

A couple of simple improvements-

1.  Add a crew to the cab
2. glaze cab, either with "clear" or by putting clear Perspex behind the front cabside windows - not the rearmost pair as locos ran with these open except in extreme weather.

Hope this helps.

I did a mini review and comparison to the Farish J39 here. In the last picture it has had the things Les mentioned done plus few other bits. Mine is now DCC'd thanks to Douglas at Wickness Models.
