Finely, weekend again, and time to spend on my layout. All track of yard "South" are laid, but not yet connected.

I've not seen this thread until today. Good luck with your plans Michiel.

Will your new layout feature the two old ladies? I thought they brought some character and personality to your updates :)

And the type 10 locomotive? Any updates on that project?

The two ladies will come back once scenery is getting form, I'm certain. Now they are hibernating somewhere at an obscure place, but they'll be back when things are getting interesting.

And I will continue with my type 10, without any doubt. But for the moment I like to have some trains running again. I's been years I've not had a layout with trains that could have their go and stretch their wheels for a good run.

All 10 tracks of yard South are connected, and have been tested. I can start the construction of yard North...

Always good to see an update Michiel.

For the visible track through the station: I was wondering will you use Peco, or fiNetrax code 40?

Your wiring set in conduits cut through the cork underlay is very methodical and neat.

The visible track will be Peco code55 (in stead of the code 80 in the hidden yard). It is very possible that I will build some specific points by hand, also code 55. But the majority of the code 55 points will be from Peco.

Code 40 is better looking, but driving is extremely troublesome. One needs to address all wheels of locomotives and cars, and have smaller flanges installed. That is a huge job. I'll stay with code 55.  ;)

Very good to see a new update, Michiel. I agree, Code 55 is a good compromise. I wish you success with building points but, with your model engineering skills, I'm sure you'll do an excellent job.

The SNCF diesel looks very good but it, and its carriages, are rather 'modern' for your chosen period?

Thanks Chris.

The diesel is a Luxemburger (CFL), with some Belgian carriages (type M2, the green ones), and a DRG sleeping car. They are not supposed to run services on the layout situated 1920-1930, but these are the first I grabbed when opening boxes looking for material to test drive the layout with.

Oops! My mistake, Michiel. In any case, I had meant to write SNCB for the diesel and carriages, so still would have been wrong about the loco.!

Best regards,
Chris

Yard North is getting shape. All track segments are cut on length. All 20 points have been modified electrically to keep them reliable on the long term. Now I can start wiring all 10 yard tracks; 4 sectors per track.
