Bo-Bo's and B-B's
« on: November 10, 2011, 12:54:16 pm »
Dontcha just love 'em  Regardless of manufacturer, I have 2 x 25, 1 x 20, 2 x 24, 1 x 33, 1 x 26, 2 x 42 and 1 x 35.
They are all good runners, they all negotiate 1st radius curves, most of them look fine and they are jacks of all trades though maybe masters of none.
That's not to say my 6 axle or 8 axle diesels aren't good but I don't use these on minimum radius track.
It sometimes makes me wonder why I buy steamers but the era and memories are in my blood and can't be shifted.

I've posted this here because, although all mine are UK outline, I am sure this thread will elicit some comments from 'continental' modellers and I would be interested if the same applies world wide.

Hi John,
Most of my stock is squirrelled away while I get some trackwork done, but I'll try and dig some out from my laptop when I'm at home.
I don't suppose a pic of a wardrobe door will suffice :smiley-laughing:
Found some old ones of when I was contemplating an end to end

Due to the continuing paucity of affordable French N gauge steam locos, most of my French N Gauge modelling is around the diesel and electric scene (this would change overnight if just one 'mainstream' manufacturer were to do an 141R (the American built 2-8-2s that were the mainstay of French steam in latter years).

The French had plenty of Co-Cos and C-Cs at one time but with recent withdrawals there are fewer and fewer so if I'm modelling recent times itís mainly B-Bs. The only major C-C class still running is the big diesel class 72100. If I am having a session based on the 1970s - 1990s I can use plenty of C-Cs

By the way most French diesels and electrics from the late 60s onwards are strictly B-B and C-C due to the French preference for monomotor bogies

John - that's only half my diesel fleet as the pic is somewhat out of date. My pocket says "Ouch" ;D
