I didnt order the light bars for my Poppylino and I was wondering if I do order a set will.I need to fit them in all nine coaches or just the six without the table lamps  if you fit them in the three first class will you still be able  to see the lamps .I have asked Ben and Mike if there are spare light bars but at the moment there are none but Rapido said they can supply more if required once all the Pendos are delivered  to all the customers here .
Perhaps Only Me knows if the lamps still show with light bars fitted ?

Bob I was thinking along the same lines, didn't order as my credit card was already reeling. If Rapido will supply more that'd be excellent news.

Mmm, I could be interested too. Always put off by Dapolís vastly over bright ones though!

These are the battery type I think they are too short for the Pendolinos and the correct ones allso take the power from the track which is one of the
reasons I didnt order them because obviously if on DC when the train stops the lights go out, when I thought about it the  11 coach Pendolino is too long to stop.at my station so that wouldnt matter .so I think I will wait and get the set when they are available but the Easy Peasy ones do look good for some of my other sets of coaches in the future.
Perhaps someone can confirm if I am right please .

The light bars I gave a link to are battery operated. You wave the 'wand' over them to light them up and they stay alight until you wave the wand over them again (so it's like an on/off switch)
They are too long for our MK1s so, as I believe they are same ones Rapido would supply for the Pendo, they should be OK.

As an aside to this, Scotsoft suggested mounting the wands at the exit and entrance to a fiddle yard such that the lights were only on whilst the train is on the scenic section. Sounds like a plan to me :hmmm:

Good idea that. I'm sure I remember them being described as battery operated with a reed switch, rather than drawing track power like the Dapol ones, so it does seem likely that is they. Also seems fairly unlikely Rapido would have wanted to do an entirely new version just for the Pendolino where there's a product in their inventory already.

Sorry, Bob, but I believe you are not right about them being too short and the correct ones taking power from the track. As njee20 says it's unlikely Rapido would have a set of lights purely for the Pendolino but I could well be wrong.

I will wait for a reply from someone who has the light bars fitted to their Pendos as Im sure I read that they pick up from pads in the coaches when you screw them in  and the power comes from the track which would not be a problem for me as the Pendo won't be stopping at my station because it's far too long .
Yes the Rapido Easy Peasy light bars are turned on and of by a magic wand  IE a
magnet I've been reading the adverts  and fitting the magnets at the entrance and exit of a fiddle yard is what I would aim to do for some of my other coaches eventually as and when I can afford them ,but I think I WILL wait and get the correct fitting ones for the Poppylino As the other type don't have the same fitting they I believe are only blue tacked in place .
Look forward to someone answering with the correct information.

I have not fitted mine yet but they are in packaging with Virgin Pendolino on them so I believe they could be bespoke. Also they do have power pads on them to connect to the internal power connectors so definitely different to the battery version.

In my opinion the battery lights you are talking about wont fit without modifications to the internals of the pendolino body shells and moulded seating. Due to the size of the battery holders.  The pendolino light bars were designed specifically for the Revolution model. They pickup power as someone said above from the internal coach pickups which are routed through the coach chassis to the correct places.

The Pendolino lightbars were designed specifically to fit the Pendolino and take advantage of the all car pick up and inter-car power couplings.  I don't know if Rapido can or will use them on other models.

Cheers, Mike

Thankyou to cutting42 and Only Me I thought I was right .
So I will place an order with Revolution for a set once they have delivered all the Pendolinos as I know how busy they must be at the moment and lights are not urgent .Perhaps Ben and Mike will put a post on here or their website when we can order them  as it looks like there are a few of us that want them .
Look forward to some photos of Pendos with close ups of the first class with light bars fitted .
