OOOOOhhh!
Thank you very much.  Nice to see one's layout appreciated!

We only had one negative comment about the trams all weekend- one guy wanted to know why I used elastic (0.5mm knittin-in elastic coloured with coffee) rather than real wire for the overhead, and "isn't it unrealistic not to pick up from the overhead?".  He didn't accept that to get wire thick enough to depress the pantographs to go under the tight arch at the left-hand end the wire needed to be over a scale foot thick.  Nor would he accept that none of the trams was actually wired to the pantographs by the manufacturer.  Oddly enough he hadn't noticed that some of the trams running through the Black Forest were Tokyo trams.

(Sorry, but you are not allowed to access the gallery)

A view along the whole 5 feet of the layout taken last September at Grantham Railshow.

All the very best

Very many thanks.

Willing to travel to exhibitions with it- have only one booking left (Quorn GCR do in June) so calendar is comparatively free.  Layout lives in Newark, 3 operators, one car.  Can manage with two operators long distance if one can be provided by the show.

You'll be bringing it to Australia, then.  :D

Let's see, return air fare for two, airfreight for the layout, overnight accommodation- have you any rich shows over there that want a small German layout?

Can't afford to come without basic costs covered (even though I expect to be a bit out of pocket by the end of the show).

Just overnight? You'll be in the air longer than you'll be on the ground!  ;D

Cheers,

I would expect to be accommodated the nights of the show, and pay myself for longer stays........

Might be cheaper to send a set of photographs and have someone assemble a clone of it down under, then you can operate by remote control.

Just a final update.

Furtwangen Ost was sold after Soar Valley show 2016, and is now a private layout in the Swindon area.

Many thanks to all who helped with it, and who gave positive comments both here and in person at the 17 shows it attended.
