Click the Gallery button on the main menu and create your Album(s), then upload your images. This will keep your images organised.

On OSX El Capitan with Safari 9.1.1 (latest) and cleared my cache for this site, but I'm still getting the "you are not allowed to access images" message for pics. Is it still WIP for all the old pic links updating to the new gallery?

@Zwilnik (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=8)  that error would seem you are somehow pointing to the now defunct avea media server.. As i write this using safari its fine for me.

Using Chrome, all the images were pointing to the old server providing an image saying no access.

To resolve I did the following (as CTRL+F5 didn't work)

1) Hamburger Symbol (3 stacked lines)
2) Settings
3) Under Privacy, Untick "Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors"
4) Then Click Clear Browsing History
5) Untick all except "Cookies and other site and plugin data", "Cached Images and files" and "Hosted App Data"
6) Click "Clear Browsing data" to commit.

I first tried CTRL+F5 then steps 1,2,4,5,6 but didn't work for all images until I also did step 3.

Hope this helps someone else if they have the same problem in Chrome at least.

Its a permission lock. It affects Chrome and Explorer.

In simple terms, can you tell me what you cant do, as when I switch to be your profile it works fine?  I can see your uploaded photos and I can view them.

If you are trying to upload from a mobile device then the photo will upload to the place you selected BUT it will not currently embed

Logged out I can see all photos.

Logged in I cannot see any board photos including your banner, except the 13 photos I just re-uploaded to my Adelante thread (13 photos)

Gotcha. Working now. Looks like I had the forum open in another window when I cleared the cache. So when I logged in again it had already kept the previous data.

Making sure all windows in Safari were closed before deleting the cache for ngaugeforum.co.uk and ngaugeforum.org sorted it.

@Snowwolflair (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=3761)

So you can see new photos and you can see your own photos...but it looks like you cant see anyone elses old ones which are not already embedded..

Ah, except image links in my previous posts to images from the old media library still show as not being allowed to view the gallery. I can see your signature pics and Tank's now, but not images in posts.
Title: Re: Gallery - Uploading Images To The Forum
Post by: Snowwolflair on June 02, 2016, 03:16:21 pm
Logged in I can see no old photos in posts - only newly created and posted photos.

I can see all photos directly in the gallery

Interesting.... I could see all the images except my own ones. Then I Ctrl+F5 'ed and I lost it again, can't see any images.
So... looks like if the user cache is cleared you need to logout and login again to recover the images. Still unable to see my own images in my own posts though.

ok so it would seem that the import picture mod from SMF, only changed embedded posts, if you had an image in your footer that was stored in the forum like mine were, you need to change the link to where it is in the new image gallery

Long time since I programmed databases.

Symptoms look like - not logged on access granted ----- logged on the user permissions test is failed.

Can you disable the user permissions test?

some sites work the other way round --- not logged on no pictures - logged on pictures.

it is a permission issue on the imported picture folder.  It doesnt allow any permission changes at the moment.

Yes I know and when you said that I could see all of Tanks footers.  So something has changed since then.
Title: Re: Gallery - Uploading Images To The Forum
Post by: Zwilnik on June 02, 2016, 05:50:27 pm
Interesting.. So I can see Tank's footers and I can see all the pics in the gallery if I go to the gallery.

I can't see any pics in old threads from the gallery or if I view my profile, all the images in there are also "not allowed".

So it's like I'm allowed to view the gallery directly when I'm in it, but none of its content outside in the forum.

It's not working as it should still, and we're kind of stuck between the two at the moment.  You can keep using the new one.

We're having to ask the author of the new Gallery for help, as the conversion hasn't gone to plan.  Paul has worked his socks off for the last few days and exhausted all avenues.  So, just the author to help us now.

I'm sure it will sort itself out , at least the Forum itself is working and it's quite fast at the moment . I thank Paul for all his work and am really greatfull for all his efforts. It's a shame because I'd just got the hang of posting photos now I will probably have to learn all over again but I'm sure someone will help me again.

Hi Bob

They are the old folders, they are locked... you can view but not add, until they are migrated into a working form on the new gallery

Bulk uploading works very well.

we now have to cut and paste an [IMG] link, rather than the shorter links previously. any chance of returning to this ( or having a "select and copy" button?)

the add image icon in the "Reply" section seems to be disabled - is this temporary ( I get a No Permissions message)?

many thanks for the efforts lads.

Sorry thats not possible, in this new product at the moment, we had to decide on if we wanted a forum that ran awfully slow with the old media centre or one which ran well and users had to copy the links themselves when bulk uploading.  We decided that it was best the forum didn't hang... ;)

the add image icon in the "Reply" section seems to be disabled - is this temporary ( I get a No Permissions message)?

That is to be removed as it pointed to the old media manager, in the reply section plese click the text " Add image to post and upload to gallery" that appears above and below the box where you type your reply

many thanks for the efforts lads.

Hi Only me  I have just tried to put a new photo in my gallery with success then managed to delete the same one as I deliberately put on a duplicate just to see if I could .
My question now is how do I start a new gallery name as I would like to put photos of my Pug and a seperate one  for the Steam Railmotor I am thick when it comes to all this technology but I can't see anything that says start new gallery name .
Sorry to bother you and no hurry with the answer .

Hi Bob, this doesn't appear to be an option at the moment, @Tank (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=2) can we request an enhancement, so users can add a category in their own directory please?
We are just getting old lol :)

Link to your gallery:- http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=gallery;su=user;u=3442 (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=gallery;su=user;u=3442)

For the time being I've created the two directories for you until we can address this quirk ! :)

PS I also fixed your sig link to Stonehouse for you !! :D

Cheers Paul.

You can do it! there is a link named "add category" at the bottom of your list of galleries. It's the same, only that is named "category" now.

It must be easy now , I've just put the Steam Railmotor on individually and the The Pug on as bulk upload.
Also put thumbnails on .
All I need to do now is improve my photographic skill.
Will put more photos of them on the layout when I'm allowed down the shed.
Thanks again to Only me (Paul ) and Deibid for their help especially Only me for all his work getting the gallery working .
I just hope you all think my lousy photography was worth it

Hi Guys,

just logged in after a few days away and I am having the problem which I think from a quick scan of this thread, you think is resolved. I can view pictures (of other members posts) if I am not logged in, but am unable to view them when I am logged in to the forum. Running IE 11 and Windows 10. What am I doing wrong?   :(

@keithbythe sea (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=5078)  could it be your paid subscription has lapsed :P ? Or could it be you need to clear your internet explorer history/cookie cache as we've been doing some updates :D

:bounce:  :claphappy:  :thankyousign: very pleased with the new gallery ,I've even sorted out the order they are in and added some text to some of the pictures , love the idea of the slide show facility.
Will add more text on the main site pictures .
The only thing I would like is the ability to move individual pictures in a gallery to different positions as some were taken along time ago and others added of different parts of the layout since so the pictures jump from one part of the layout to another but now I'm being very picky and asking for to much.
