Oh well!!! Thats my daughter and her husband on their way back to Afghan, for another 3 months after their 2 weeks r'n'r.

Another 3 months of heart stopping moments when the doorbell rings, when you're not expecting anyone. Praying it's not yours, when the media announce another brave one loses they're life and then praying for the family who'se loved one it is.

Telling my wife that she and her husband will be fine, she's being well looked after by the lads at her CP, and that she'll not be doing anything to dangerous. Hmmphh who am I trying to kid!!!.

Just have to keep fingers and toes crossed for another 70 days or so.

Neal - I met my wife, Della, whilst based at Lyneham, she was a Calne lass and I know the area well, her brother still lives there and she has family in Chippenham too.

I am all too aware of the impact the base has on the local community down there.  I have no doubt they and their colleagues will look after one another as always, and return home safely in a couple of months
