Well, I've now added my NGS number.
Though it does seem to be lower than everyone else's!

Well, almost!
Here's a question: are numbers below 10000 recognised in the Society prize draws?  8)

Be a bit of a bummer if not. - whoever's got Number 1 would be brassed off (No mention of No.2 please!)
Do the numbers relate to members i.e. if mine is 21962 does that mean at the time I joined there were 21,962 members ???

Damian

I would guess the numbers are sequential, I joined a few years ago (4 or 5 maybe?)

I have just taken out a years membership to see what it is like, although I do realise as an American & Japanese modeller (hopefully soon  ::)) there wont be a lot of specific stuff to interest me but I am hoping to pick up tips on general layout topics.

I also received the handbook and have to say I was impressed with the quantity but was surprised, given the computer age we live in, some of the rather poor diagrams.  I shall persevere with it though  ;D

Well I figured there must be another 'Old Skool' member join at some point!  :)
Can't say I recall a 4 digit member winning, I may be wrong though...

Numbers are sequential as Damian said and are allocated as people join.
If you left and rejoined later you would have a new, higher number.
There's currently something like 5,500 members.
It amazes me that over 15,000 have joined since me!
Just think if they'd all stayed as members....  :o

Persevere with it! The handbook has each section updated every now and again but being a voluntary thing takes time.
The sections with the poor diagrams are probably on the cards...

I had a lower number for the NGS when I joined the first time in 1994 I think, but when I rejoined I didn't think to ask for it to be renewed.  Not to worry, it's not a competition.  :)  Or is it?!  :D

I am waiting for someone outside the UK to win - although it is a bit of a longshot as apparently only 10% of members do.  Odds on if it were me, it would be something for eBay to get beer tokens to get what I really want
