acko - if your mother-in-law was a member of this forum, she could put a post in the 'Happy Thread' - "yippee, I am going to spend 3 weeks with my favourite son-in-law at Christmas"  :smiley-laughing:
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Mike if thats was the case accidents can happen!! >:D
Mechanical issues can be solved with a hammer and electrical problems can be solved with a screw driver. Beyond that it's verbal abuse which makes trains work!!

Look on the bright side - there may be more meat on your Mum-in-Law than on a turkey >:D

:'( :'( Bang goes my next 2 months loco and baseboard stash of cash.
Realised that our Horse Chestnut tree in the front garden has got a bit out of control again and needs re-pollarding before the winter really sweeps across the country and things fall across the roads etc.
Needs this short back and sides pruning every 3-4 years and I hadnt  the time is due again  :'(
OK so it might only be a few hundred quid  :-\  but when one factors Christmas in as well it starts to look bad
Guess the quote to do it all arrived this morning and the quote is only £144 which considering it means pedestrian crash barriers and a C class road control being in place isn't bad when its all considered but its the lump payout this side of Christmas that annoys me

The timing could have been better but the quote seems reasonable, Jon.
What chance you can sell the wood to someone who has a wood burner :hmmm:

I suspect all the wood residue is only big enough for chipping so they recon on removing all waste so I`leave them to it

Anyone else suffer from arthritis? I'm having trouble getting used to the pain in my ankles  :'( my doctor thinks I have either RA or psoriatic arthritis. I've been hobbling round the house trying to come to terms with the fact that I will probably be limited to walking short distances in future. I used to really enjoy long walks.

I'm very thankful that my hands aren't affected and I realize that there are other in far worse a position but getting old sucks!

Newportnobby

When I had a replacement hip last year they told me my other one had 'moderate wear' but would require doing sometime in the next 5 years. This was due to arthritis.
My youngest sister has problems with both knees and is having cortizone injections, and my Mum used to have to bathe her hands in hot wax many years ago - so yes, it runs in our family sadly :(
Sorry to hear you have to endure the pain, Veronica.

I've been using this

https://www.naturesaid.co.uk/products/glucosamine-500mg-msm-500mg-chondroitin-100mg-with-vitamin-c/

for about 10 years now, it stopped elbow joint pain, no further problems with joints. (but a bad chest from 40 years smoking even though I gave that up about 12 years ago!)
Cheers MIKE

Join the club, mate. My major concern is that I pretend to play the guitar, and it's threatening yet another one of my vices hobbies  ;D

I tend to think that it's something to do with not being quite as spritely as we were, but it sure as heck is a pain. Some days literally.  :(

A long time ago I worked back stage in a major London theatre and many of the dancers would regularly take glucosamine to help with their joints. Often backed up with cod liver oil tabs or similar.

Hope you are able to control the discomfort, Veronica.

 :thankyousign:

For the glucosamine suggestion. I will certainly give it a try.

Malc

Get the 1000mg ones, or try Green Lipped Mussel Extract. I take glucosamine daily, but if I start really having issues with my knees, go onto the mussel extract. http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/arthritis-information/complementary-and-alternative-medicines/cam-report/complementary-medicines-for-rheumatoid-arthritis/green-lipped-mussel.aspx
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.
I can't help with any solutions but I hope some of those mentioned by others will be of some assistance.
I'll get round to fixing it drekkly me 'ansome.
