The 'weathered' Royal Scot arrived this morning. Originally described as 'heavily weathered' by Farish, I wouldn't exactly describe it as 'weathered' either - more a sort of all over matt finish. However, she looks very nice and runs a treat straight from the box, in which she is a very tight fit! :worried:

Naive question: what does the diagonal yellow stripe across the cab side signify?

"The yellow stripes were to show the loco was prohibited from working south of Liverpool or Manchester over the LM region electrified lines to Euston. Apparently, it was applied to some of ex LMS class 4F, rebuilt Patriots, Jubilees, and Royal Scots and ex LNER class A4, A3, A1 A2 and A2/3 pacifics. This is according to my Observers Book of Railway Locomotives of Britain, 1966 edition, which shows pictures of most of those classes with the diagonal stripe. Think I've seen pics of 8F's with them as well. There weren't many survivors of those classes left by then, of course"-source: http://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8526 posted 6 April 2009.

I bought these off of Ebay the other week, I thought they captured the elusive overall look of reality really rather well :)

I too picked something up today at Ally Pally(love that name now I get it!). I phoned my mother and asked for reasons why I shouldn't buy it. She ended up asking me if I wanted it for my birthday so of course I didn't say no. Plan was she was going to pop the money in my account....good job she didn't otherwise I'd have had a Farish 'weathered' 20 I saw too

Cracking looking model this. Can't wait to get hold of the dummy version so when I actually build my layout I can run them as planned with the rest of the Regional Railways stock I plan on getting. Had a Lima 156 in OO when I had my 6x4 Hornby layout when I was a kid so quite fond of the livery and having been on several 156s I've become quite fond of them.

I thought I'd be brave and open it up and look to see where the light bars go and where the decoders sit. Ended up fixing the gangways as they weren't sitting right. Anyway so I now I have a Farish 3 car 101, Farish 40 and a couple of coaches yet nothing to run them on!

Here are my latest purchases over the last weeks.

This is the tramway that can be seen in Totoro's movie (or close to it), but in a different livery. I still have to paint the wheels to make them more discrete.

Some British rolling stock, as well as two French hoppers.

Have a nice week.

Except Osborns haven't had any in stock for ages. I only need a Percy and a SODOR mail coach for the complete set  :bounce:

Very very nice!

Still new to trains, which class is that? 60?

The running number is the clue, as the first 2 numbers relate to the class - in this case 60061 so, yes, it's a class 60.

I'm glad Mick chimed in with that, because being totally out of my modelling period, I was about to say very nice, but what is it?

Very nice, anyway.

and for a future U.S. project featuring amongst other things, exported UK buses used for sightseeing tours, chosen from Farish's Scenecraft bus range (which are to 1:160 scale) consisting of a Bristol Lodekka (above) and a VR double decker (below)
