Sounds like you had a good day - nice to see that there is at least one other Classic Car enthusiast Oldun, who is a member of this Forum besides me.

Thank you Tdm. For my troubles I'm doing a 'rolling' restoration of a 1960
Series 2 Land Rover 10 seat - 109" station wagon. During its production run
from 1959 to 1961 they only made 342 of these for the home market. This
makes it a rare vehicle as Land Rovers go. Thank goodness spares are still
available.

I have 2 main hobbies at the moment - my Triumph Stag and my Model Railway.
As a member of the SOC Forum I have found on there that there are quite a few Stag owners who also have, or are restoring, Classic Land Rovers. Good luck with your restoration.
Touch wood I have very few problems with my Stag which allows me more time to spend on my new N gauge layout. The car is 37 years old, the Model Railway just 9 months, but currently it is my newest hobby that is costing me the most money at present!

There's quite a few on here actually ;)

Depends what you call 'classic' in terms of age, but since our prize possession is now old enough to qualify for the Classic Ford Show I guess it counts. We have a 1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 that is a "sunny days and shows" car only. We also have two other Sierras: a Sapphire 2000E (rare beast nowadays) and an XR4x4 2.9i that were our daily cars until a couple of years ago. Sadly spares are VERY difficult to come by now so they've been taken off the road while everything still works, and after a light restoration will be show cars also. More info on my website if you're interested, link in my signature

The Cosworth Sierra was/is quite a motor, and didn't Jimmy Nail drive round in one in the TV series "Spender" or was it "Crocodile Shoes"?. Just got back from a cruise round the Cape Verde Islands, and in a remote hillside village there saw a Sierra Saphire still in use. Will take a look at your Website when I get back from the Pool as the Grandkids are out with us and the Sun is shining - so guess where they want to spend their day!

Used to own a Ford Capri Caylpso back in 1980 at the same time as my wife was riding round in a Ford Fiesta 1.1 GL. As regards parts, I have no trouble getting parts for my Triumph Stag, there are quite a few suppliers I can use in the U.K. because there are still several thousand Stags on the road today. Below is a picture of mine outside a nearby Bar in Tenerife, and below that a picture of my Capri when it was new with the misses posing on the bonnet, me admiring it, and my then young son washing it.

Correct, Spender ;)

Strangely enough spares are more plentiful for the Cosworth than the other two as they are still used in club racing/rallying, but getting things like engine sensors for the 2000E and XR is almost impossible apart from second-hand :( Hence why we stopped using ours while they still go and we have a small stock of useful spares just in case ;)

Nice Capri

I used to have the Sierra GSE 2.0i and then the Sapphire GSE 2.0i which was nicked (The Ol' Bill found it about two years later in Northfleet - less than 5 miles away).   Recently I was myself considering buying a restored Stag (my favorite British convertible) but decided i didn't have the space to keep it as it deserved...

Here in Dublin there are a few classic car shows but not of the same size - I do go along if I have time although I am not a classic Car owner.  I do go to an informal car gathering (Cars & Coffee in Cherrywood, first sunday of the month, if anyone in Dublin is reading) here is a couple of pictures so you can see the diversity of what turns up...

If anyone is interested below I have posted a Link to a local Classic Car Show held just down the road in 2009 that broke the (Spanish) Guinness Book of Records for the most Classic Cars assembled on one place at any one time (I think there were about 650).
I took photos of quite a few of the cars on display (but not all), and uploaded them to YouTube, and everyone there who put their car on display got a special plaque as a momento of the occasion. Enjoy.

Great collection of pics

Lots of lovely old British cars, not too fond of the big yank-tanks but I wouldn't say no if someone threw a Trans-Am my way ;)

That gorgeous Renault 5 Turbo2 . . .  :jawdropping:

Will have to get a pic of the girlfriend's 1935 Talbot 10 tourer - a true classic and a swine to get parts for (or the parts we want, anyway). Need a couple of parts, and we can drive it out of the garage!

Hi Paul,
Just checked your Website out and saw all your car pics & info, but when I clicked on "railways" & "mlp" nothing happened? Are these parts still under development, and what does mlp stand for?

When you click on 'Railways', 'Cars', or 'MLP' you should notice the menu below it change, it's my first foray into websites and it's a clunky design based around frames ;)

This is a real Classic, 1963 Ford Classic 116E 2 door standard, mine for 10 years from '93 to '03 (I did have one when they were new back in '63.) Finally sold it when I reached 70, no longer fun crawling under and over it. Engine was not quite original - bored out Escort Mexico block, pre crossflow head (so it looked more original) twin choke Weber, straight through box and Cherry Bomb  rear box sounded nice! Used to tow a 4 berth trailer tent to shows with no problems. When I had it there was only one other 2 door standard roadworthy, plenty of 4 door and de luxe about.

As far as Classic car shows go, some define classic cars as those registered before about 1972 or 73 others say cars over 20 years old; then there are Veteran pre December 1918 and Vintage 1919 to 1930, or some say 1919 to 1939 .
