Title: Farish class 37 37238 noses
Post by: guest311 on May 22, 2015, 08:56:17 PM
Hi,

I have a couple of 37238s with the centre headcode box, and a requirement for a couple of split headcode 37s, but can't find any 37038s for sale.

I do have some of the TPM replacement noses, but I'm a bit wary of taking the ends off the 238s before I am sure the split box ends will fit in their places.

does anyone know if they would fit, or was the older Farish 37 a different shape / size etc ?

I am not too worried about losing the lights.

many thanks in advance for any help,

cheers

alan

As far as I can see, the body shapes are exactly the same (and I believe one review even mentioned that the bodies were interchangeable)
However, if you are a purist, then be aware that the roof detail for "centre code" and "split box" versions is quite different - the area over the boiler compartment has ribs on the "split box" but is more or less plain on the "centre" versions. Additionally, the "centre" version carried roof mounted air horns, whilst the horns on the "split box" version were in the nose.

many thanks for that info.

so looks like it should work, all I'd need to do apart from changing the noses is file the horns off the roof and fill / make good.

as I was looking at repainting into large logo as well, the roof work will be covered with the grey roof.

thanks again

:sorrysign: for resurrecting yet another old thread, it's frowned on in an airline forum that I participate in but I'm after some help please. Years ago, TPM sold resin nose ends for the old Farish Poole Class 37's. I seem to have mis-placed the 4 sets that I had on the go before children came along and everything went up the loft. I'm particularly after a split headcode set for 37113 that I have painted in Distribution livery, it's all I need to finish off this loco. I have been in contact with CJM so that might turn up something but in the mean time, does anyone have any ideas or any of these items for sale please?

I think I may have some but unfortuantely I won't be back in UK to check until beginning of May. But if you don't have any luck elsewhere.....

Thank you, my panic is over as I have found a modelling tool box with all the bits I thought that I had lost, in the garage, including 4 sets of Class 37 nose ends. I am still interested if you have any spares for sale though as I have 2 spare 37 blank body shells.

If the 37 body shell is an unpainted "refurb" version then I may be tempted to buy ONE off YOU !

How does that work? I asked you first!!  :D

When I said that I had 2 spare, what I meant was that I had 2 bodyshells that don't have chassis. I will have an original Poole Farish bodyshell in Petroleum livery going spare if that's any good to you?

From what I remember, I have at least one set of "splitbox" ends and one or two pairs of "refurbished splitbox" (as fitted to most of the 37/5's and some 37/7's in the drawer but I will drop you a reply when I get back home (currently mid-Atlantic !)
I alkso have some of the TPM detailing kits if you want to change the roof detail etc

Thanks, if you want to sell, I'm interested in possibly buying it all. Please PM me what is available and prices when you get home.  :)
