fitting snow plough and pipes

I just fitted the snow plough on a dapol class 33. it protrudes slightly and so hits the pipes and dummy coupling.

is there some trick I'm unaware of or do u basically just have to choose between snow plough or pipes?

p.s. as an aside I had to marginally down size the snow plough to prevent it catching on track or body of loco. don't know if that has been a problem for anyone else?
