Tomix Thomas the tank engine
« on: November 16, 2017, 12:38:53 pm »
I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but I'm sure a mod will move it if need be.

The motor in my Tomix Thomas is busted.
Does anybody have a Thomas that is broken but the motor works that they would sell me?
Alternatively can anybody point me to where I can buy a new one please.....

I use him at the shows to amuse the kids and it would be a shame to throw him away - especially as I have converted him to DCC!

Thanks for your help guys.

Can you post a piccie of the chassis and motor?    I think there have been a couple of different chassis designs in the different batch runs.

One of my Tomix Thomas locos also died a while ago - think it was James.  I managed to replace the motor with something I already had in my bits box.

May be able to find a suitable motor on ebay - either a genuine Tomix part or something similar.

[edit]
Yes it was my James that died.  Here's the chassis with replacement motor fitted (original motor in front):

My Thomas has this style of chassis (James' old motor in front):

I'm sure I've seen the above Thomas motor for sale on ebay from time to time.
