Hello all,

I have now managed to upload a couple of images.

The kit can be built as the original PFB Warflat, or the airbrake only KFA.  In practical terms, in N, there is no difference between them as the through vacuum pipe signified by the different TOPS code is all but invisible beneath the deck.   Decals will include TOPS panels and numbersets in both white and yellow for both types.

First batch built with green jacks and white lettering as PFB:

Present condition with yellow jacks and lettering as KFA:

Also, a couple of photos sent to me from Paul Gandy's workbench show he has made good progress on mastering the new models we have commissioned, which will be cast in resin.

This is the body for the Saxon:

And this shows the existing pewter 1970 Scimitar next to the reworked master for Life Extended version - note the different arrangement of grilles, side boxes and headlights:

I suspect the military vehicles will become available well before the actual Warflat kit, but this should hopefully enable members to stagger their purchases!

cheers

Ben A.

Hello all,

The NGS received first samples of the exclusive new resin military vehicles from PG Models.

The vehicles comprise the Life Extended Scimitar light tank, dating from the early 2000s to the present, and the Saxon APC which was in service from the early 1980s to very recently, though I understand they have recently been put into storage.

We have specified resin instead of PG Models' usual pewter to save weight; the standard Scimitar in metal is 24g, the resin version (albeit with metal track parts, to save money) is about a third.  This makes them ideal to act as loads on our upcoming modern Warflats.

We anticipate the price for these will be broadly similar to PG Models own models, or maybe slightly cheaper, though of course all are exclusive to the NGS.

The other two new models, the BV-206 amphibious transport and the Humber Pig car are still in development.

Cheers

Ben A.

The look great.  Will the society consider expanding the range?

Hi Simon,

We have commissioned four new models from PG Models to start with, covering the 1950s to the present day, and therefore suitable as loads for our older Warflats, both old and rebuilt versions of the Warwells and upcoming 1976-build Warflats.

Once we see how well they sell then there is every possibility that we will want to progress the range.

Cheers

Ben A.

I had not joined the NGS as it always appeared to never have anything in stock that I liked.

I have just joined on the basis of getting a few of these kits, it also assured me that Ben is part of the NGS. Waiting to see what is in the handbooks and journals and hope I get notification of these going to the shop.

Hi Kaian,

Good to have you as a member.

The resin vehicles are going to be the first to be released as they are the first to be finished.  We are just sorting out packaging for the Scimitar LEP and Saxon.

The Warflat will be a little longer as it takes longer for an injection mould tool to be prepared.  Parkside Dundas are doing this for us; they have tooled the majority of our kits, and we are waiting our production "slot."

Cheers

I've had a good look over the new models today with Paul Gandy at the Cardiff show, and I've got to say the do look awesome.

I've only got phone phots, so they're not very good, I'll take some decent ones tomorrow. but the ones @Ben A has posted do do the model justice, can't wait for some Saxons and BV-206's.

Cheers

Neal.

Hi all,

Not ordered any of the vehicles or Warflats yet although they are on my hit list, if its wanted I can happily post up some pics of the Scimitars what they look like in their current guise so you can get things like decals and paint scheme right (as of 2012 onwards anyhow).

Regards

Gareth
