Now all you need is one of these to complete the set...

You're not wrong :)  Generally I'm more interested in the more modern stuff but felt I had to have at least a couple of the old 'classic' style Japanese units for the collection.  I fell in love with them when MS Train Sim first came out :D

Next through the letterbox should be an E259 Narita Express 8)

I have the original Kato 6 car Chuo set, older model but still a lovely runner, just looks so good going round  :D

So where is the video Lawrence

cheers John.

That means he'll have to try and remember where his shed is, John :-X

You don't know how true that is Mick  :(

New arrival yesterday from Keith at TrainTrax - the Kato E259 Narita Express.

The full 6 car EMU is made up from two Kato sets: 10-847 and 10-848

Very nice... How easy is it to uncouple? Mine is still very stiff, and requires some pressure to separate the coupling...

A lovely model though.

To be honest I've not tried as yet, only got it out of the boxes this morning.  It's not something that'll worry me much, anyway, as my stuff never leaves home and is thus left coupled-up for most of it's life.

When this one gets chipped it'll also have jumper wires installed between the pick-up stampings in the bogies of adjacent cars, effectively making two or three car sub-units.  I reckon that will dissuade me from too much uncoupling! :D

I do like the photograph of it going round the curve and the close up of the front shows the driver must get a great view sitting up so high

Thank you for posting your photographs Steve  :NGaugersRule:

cheers John.

Wow  :o that is a beaut Steve, would love to see a video of it running if you have that facility, really is one of Japan's iconic trains, and it's not a Shinkansen  ;)

Oh yes, there WILL be video of it in the next week or so. 8)  Most likely on my 'Capital Lines' layout thread, but I'll try to remember a link from here too

But for now, a couple of prototype videos I bookmarked on YouTube:

Latest swag haul from TrainTrax is this rake of 16 Kato TAKI 1000 tank cars, a pair of 10-1167 8-car boxes in fact.

A very welcome addition as until now I've had 4 Japanese locos and absolutely nothing for them to pull :o

Happy week last week. Mrs Dreyfus gets a job and my contract has been renewed until November. That is as good a reason as any to go shopping.

A full-length (12 carriages) E7 Shinkansen - the right-hand train in this picture - is now on its way from PlazaJapan.  8)

:jealous: fantastic looking set. Can't wait for your video featuring it. What does it look like coupled up?
I'm not sure if life is passing me by, or trying to run me over.

Marvellous.  Proper bostin'

I've only been able to run it on DC so far as much of the main layout track is being glued & wired at the moment - hence lack of videos in the last month.  Oh, and it's hot in the loft
