I've got a Kato EF210 currently "awaiting customs clearance", and have still to get the E257 add-on cars that turned up before Christmas out of the box and onto the layout!  Once I've stopped making sawdust, their time will come.  Meanwhile, here's a real EF210:

A couple of bits arrived recently...

I have been after one of these DMUs for quite some time, so finally decided a Christmas present. Totally the wrong era and region, but it looks seriously cool and runs beautifully. It is a 3-car unit used to serve the Holland Village park in Kyushu. The nice livery is based on the Dutch flag.

A little more bread and butter is this Tomix class 211 EMU. I have an identical Kato model, so the comparison will be interesting. The 211s are now regulars on the local Chuo line services, so a couple were needed for Yamanouchi Oshika.

Finally, these buses have also arrived. They are regular sights in the area where Yamanouchi Oshika is set, so again are a very useful addition...

That is indeed seriously cool.  I can imagine it being rescued in a Thunderbirds episode 8)

My Kato EF210 arrived about a week ago, direct from Japan as I couldn't find one over here.  Costs:

Loco itself 35.90
Priority Airmail 14.60
Import VAT 8.97
Parcelforce 'Handling' 13.50 !!

I think the latter includes overnight stabling for Black Bess with all the oats she can eat!  ;)

Also picked up a Kato 6 car 201 series in Chou Line orange on Ebay.  Greater runner.  Missing a coupler, but I've got a pack of spares coming  8)

Steve, I have that Chou Line set, also purchased from ebay but mine was missing front light unit and front skirt, could not get the spares at the time and it took me nearly a year to source another front car on its own, cost me nearly as much as the set did buying it through a Japanese auction site using a 3rd party to bid for me, but it was worth all the hassles and the wait as it is a lovely unit and runs very smoothly.
I am currently waiting for a new chassis for my J.R. Ordinary Express Series 165 `Monterey Color` as despite my best efforts and stripping down, servicing and rebuilding it wont run right, fortunately Hobby search have them in stock   :)
I may have some Greenmax building kits that may be of interest to you, these are now surplus to my requirements so let me know if you would be interested.

Ouch!  Fortunately for me the couplers (Kato 11-705) are rather easier to come by!

Might well be, I've bought some Greenmax of late and have been impressed so far.  You could PM me details at your leisure if you wish 8)

Three second-hand Kato locos via UK ebay, two DD51 diesels and one EF65 electric.  Good prices and excellent runners, although the Sparky is missing the detail sprue and should really have a blue background to the side numbers.  Nothing I can't fix :)

Ordered a DD51 from Toy Shop Japan Hobbyone via Amazon for 26, they cancelled the order 3 days later stating out of stock (they had 4 at time of ordering), but then re-advertised them at 66+ with the same 4 in stock, now they have 9 in stock at 44.
Have raised the issue with Amazon but no joy yet, my argument is I had an order confirmation so they should honour the order  :censored:
