as you may have guessed my track is 2mm standard, the 3rd rail is soldered to Duchess Pins every 5 to 6 sleepers with the aid of a simple jig, track is easitrac rail is 40 thou

I also know 2mm modelers who use easitrac chairs with 40 thou rail to achieve a similar effect trimming the chair to a more square shape

Nick,
Duchess pins? trimming the chair? Nope, didn't get any of that!  :hmmm:
Tell you what, how about you explain it to me at the Canterbury show? Where is it being held exactly?

Alec.
You can't beat a nice drop of Southern.

I'll be at the Canterbury show next Sunday. Keep an eye open for a Tonbridge MRC sweatshirt (Warning, there could be a few).

Graham,

It'll be good to meet up with you in Canterbury. I've just asked previous poster Nick to let me have venue detail and times.

Be aware I'll have a hyper active Grandson in tow. Hopefully his dad will be looking after him for some of the time. We're visiting on the Sunday arriving in time for opening.

OK Graham, I'll be there on Sunday (might go Saturday as well as I'm still at the keen-as-mustard stage).  ;D

Saturday is much busier. Not sure how we'll meet up. I'll try to remember my NGF badge. Otherwise, just listen for the constant calling of the name "Max" (My Grandson).

:sorrysign: But you could get thumped for this picture - I will get my coat ::)
Lovely looking model and good to see the early front end attempt at warning trackside staff.

This thread prompted me to have alook at doing the first refurb CEP - it had blue grey paint scheme and kept the early windows - the only one.
take one CEP add a SK and a BCK , a nifty cut and tuck and I think it would be possible to do looking at plans last night- anybody got a blue grey set ?

Pretty sure there was a thread on RMWeb where someone cut'n'shut 1500 from the Bachmann CEP in 4mm.

1500 lasted into Jaffa Cake livery and the power cars went on to become departmental tractor unit 081 which worked various test trains around the Southern including the High Speed Track Recorder.

Graham,

while I had an enjoyable few hours at the expo on Sunday, I'm sorry that we didn't get to meet up. There seemed to be any number of couples who could well have been Max and his grandpa! I'll make the effort to visit Tonbridge for your show.

Hi Nick,

many thanks for taking the time to explain the 2mm set up. Pleasure to meet you and I enjoyed the craftmanship evident in "Line No.20".

No problem. I bumped into loads of people I knew but we missed each other. Never mind. I will be at Tonbridge all day - probably on the club sales stand. Just ask anyone with a TMRC sweat/polo shirt.
