Sheet rails for tarpaulin support
« on: April 10, 2018, 11:01:07 am »
I don't recall seeing any open wagons with these in N gauge they were pivoted on the wagon ends. I believe they were less common after grouping  although the SR built some wagons to LSWR design up to 1926 the pics are of Cambrian 00 kits. Maybe a project for etched brass?

Try this link and scroll down to the pics of LSWR open wagons

http://cambrianmodels.co.uk/lbseswkits.html

Similar GWR type
http://www.hattons.co.uk/215077/Parkside_Models_PC81_10_ton_GWR_open_wagon_Dia_O11_plastic_kit/StockDetail.aspx

The actual rail could be modelled with wire, but working pivots at either end could be fiddly.

Had a look, those are BR not SR/ex LSWR, can't get the image large enough to see detail of the pivot at the end;  Further to that, 10.90 is a bit pricey for a sheet bar, I don't need the wagons just the sheet rails.

I bent mine up from 0.33 brass rod supplied for handrails, they fitted into holes in the ends of the bodies
