First draft of the artwork for the transfer set.  There are a number of additions including the First Hull logos etc, however we are almost there.

The image is degraded to avoid it being copied

As you can see there is good progress on the transfers.  I will PM those who have expressed interest and I will also flag it up on the site when they are ready.

As for time off this is a 30 minute a day build, mainly while the paint dries.  I hope the blog is a good guide.

Mustermark

Yes, it's an excellent guide.

I always find things in the last place I look. weird huh??

Last draft of the transfer set arrived this morning.  Once I have checked them I will be committing to have them printed.  I will put a post up soon on the final cost per set of 5 coached made up of two ends and three middle coaches.  There are enough spares and duplicates to give everyone a good chance of getting a very good result and there are variations as the originals have changed over time.  The Hull logos are substitutions for the sides and all the Hull numbers are included.  (This print is degraded to avoid copying)

What paint did you use for the First blue top coat?

Snowwolflair

Halfords Vauxhall Atlantis Blue and it is a very close match.

As its an aerosol can, you need the undercoat surface to be perfect as the topcoat spray needs to be a one pass - no touch-up!

Mustermark

Hmmm... Supply of Vauxhall paint in the US, probably not.
Looks like I'll be getting the local DIY store to mix me some '010385', at least that's the hex code listed on Wiki.

Every so often I stumble across a thread that makes my eyes pop out and leaves me insanely jealous of someone's modelling ability. Well this is one of those threads! Not my era, or indeed my interest, but the range of skills shown is simply stunning

Keep the photos and reports coming, that 180 is going to look fabulous and I personally can't wait to see a video of it in action (hint, hint!)

Now for the tricky bit.

I have painted the roofs and the top of the nose.  As you will see I have still a millimeter or two of the yellow to cover, however, I will not paint this until I have fitted the front windows.

The windows will need to be back painted transparency as they are like modern car windows glued in place with a black border.  You will see there are molding lines to the full extent of the windows as the windows are much wider that the openings.

Just to complicate matters the windows are curved in two dimensions.

As for modelling ability Its just Age.  Age means I have done it before and learned and Age has taught me to be patient.  :)

That really is lovely work!

Cheers, Mike

Snowwolflair

The windows are quite complicated and need quite a few stages to make.  the idea is that the last thing I will do is curl them slightly, however, before that I have to fully detail them and prepare the opening so they just drop in clean and they are done.

The wipers are scribe lines and then washed with paint.  This has the effect and wont get damaged in the future.

Hi,
Windscreen work inspired , really looking forward to the finished set.

Being cheeky any chance of the dimensions of the windows ... save my grey matter when the time comes, and as you say patience and having got it wrong before -and worked out how to correct errors is one of the cumulative skills that make great modelers.

Its a trial fit, and as the body is 3D printed they are all the same fortunately.  What I might do is scan it and add x:y scales so it can be printed out and cut as a template.  I need to paint the edges and when I do this it will be easier to scan.
