Title: East Surrey N Gauge Exhibition, April 14 2018
Post by: snitchthebudgie on March 08, 2018, 11:13:54 am
ESNG is 21 this year, and totally logically, it's our 20th exhibition....

Layouts on show will include:

ESNG N-mod/N-club modular layout
West Sussex group N-mod modular layout
Forrestone (UK modern)
Freshwater (2mm finescale IOW)
City Basin Goods (BR Western Region)
Maxwell (UK)
St Elizabeth Street (UK modern)
Berry Town (UK, BR era)
Stoughton Road (UK)
Fichtelbergbahn (Germany, Nm)
Kato racetrack (Japan)

Iím pleased to have a 2mm finescale layout on show, and Duncanís large Nm layout is also a new venture.  Both are part of the 2mm/N family, so I think they will add interest and variety to the show,

Trade will include:

BH Enterprises
NScaleCH
Invicta
JB Modelworld
Club shop

And on sale will be our ESNG anniversary wagon.  A snip at £10, and unlike Ebay, a genuine rarity!!

Not forgetting the real coffee.....  See you there.

Noted in the diary.  Should be there, and will probably check out the Crawley show also.

BUMP!

Getting very close now.  All seem to be organised (barring an outbreak of plague in Redhill, or WWIII).  We've even got to the stage that the Cha(I)rman is getting the traditional post-exhibition curry organised.

If you pay us a visit, look out for me doing the headless budgie imitation around the show, and say hallo to Bob on the BH stand.  It should be a fun day, as always!

Shame it's the same day as the Crawley one given the proximity, sadly I can't do both, and that one's closer!

Sorry, njee20, but we've often had the show on the same day as Crawley just because of the proximity.  It's easy to do both (but you'll probably spend longer at ours....  :sorrysign:)

Yours being far further from my house means itís out sadly! I guess doing both does make sense though, but if thatís the sim why not share a venue  and thus costs?

Horses for courses, I guess!  We're a smaller show and exclusively 'N' gauge (plus 2mm and Nm this year.)  Crawley is all gauges and with a much larger budget than we can think of spending, so it would be a bit of a mis-match.  Have fun - and I hope to get to the Crawley show on the Sunday. Jon

Well done, chaps! That was an excellent little show. Only small, but at least everything was interesting. It was the first time I have managed to attend - until this year the domestic authorities have always commandeered the car on a Saturday morning. I made a couple of small purchases, including an old ABS Beaver kit of an LNER J63 which I was pleased to get, even though it is a strictly Rule 1 purchase, and added to the pile of Things To Do.

Looking forward to the new, improved show next year.

Cheers,

Chris

Glad we could supply you with the kit ,You will have to bring it along and show us the finished loco ,We often wonder how the kits we sell turn out its ALLWAYS nice to see the end results.
Look on the B H E website to see what shows we are going to this year.
I think your right this show was a very nice little show and every time I had a wander round  there was ALLWAYS things moving on every layout .

A very enjoyable show.  I thought "Stoughton Road" was an excellent example of N Gauge in a small space.  This must surely encourage anyone who has doubts about having space to model in N Gauge.

Thanks, guys - it's always good to know that people have enjoyed the show as much as we enjoyed a day playing trains.  I'm just back from the curry house with a record 25 club members, friends and wives attending.  A good finish to a fun - if tiring - day.  Cheers, Jon

Very good point!

A reason to put the J23 to the top of the to-do pile.

I also have one of your Craven class 105 DMU kits to build, but that is in the pile marked "Looks Difficult"!

Cheers,

Chris

Papyrus I must have ago at building one of our D M U kits myself, I keep looking at them ,I dont think its the building that puts me off but the painting and lining .But I will pluck up courage one day.
It was nice to meet you and put a face to a name .
Thoroughly enjoyed the show but I was knackered when I got home , I think it was mainly due to the sun in my eyes nearly all the way home not the actual show.
Look forward to next years EVEN bigger and better show.

I love the little Nm roundy, I've seen it a few times at other shows. Lovely modelling and pretty smooth running.

Great to see Kato narrow gauge converted and running Nm, to me it looks so much better than the compromised 9mm gauge. I believe Duncan's layout *may* be at TINGS as part of the N Club International system.

The 2mm finescale layout was very nice and demonstrated excellent slow running.

Well done to all the exhibitors!
