The V6 tdi A6 is a quality motor, quite high on my wish list !

Don't know if it's man enough for 2 bar of boost though.... Wouldn't the V8 tdi A8 be better ? (and more comfortable !)

yeah but they are pretty rare, ill have to keep my eyes open.

My Asz 1.9 is running 2.0 Bar on a stock turbo, head, gasket etc. the only things ive had to chance are the turbo outlet to pancake and intercooler to inlet as I jept obliterating the oem hoses, so the new ones just happen to be 3". Which is handy when theres 10,000L of air (at atmospheric pressure) going through on full bore with some revs.
The graphs dont show the overboost too well either, its great fun but gets a bit sketchy in anything but scorching hot conditions without the LSD. The final straw was accidental 6th gear rolling burnouts in the wet on the M4 without touching the clutch. Despite the weight and brutality she is surprisingly kind to the tyres, not so the driveshafts, or gearbox mounts:

The rubber bush at the top was pulled through the alloy loop because I got wheelskip on full boost in third and when I regained grip, the box kicked back against the resistance and did that

TT brakes and posh compounds/discs take care of hauling off the speed to such an extent that you can feel your pulse in your FACE!

p.s. if anyone is looking at tyres at the moment look at the uniroyal rainsport 2. Naff name but more previce than Avon ZV3`s more grip in all conditions than the bridgy 050`s, better wearing than proxies and Yokes.

Cheers

I've had (in no special order) Henry the Mk1 Escort van, most of which is still in the loft, Sid the Sierra, Leonard, a Peugeot 309, George, the beloved and sorely missed Seat Marbella (bought for £100 to do for a few weeks, ended up keeping him for 18 months), Luigi the Alfasud (learned how to weld with that one), and currently shift between the General (Seat Inca van, named for General Franco) and the wife's PT Cruiser (Sebastian (her choice)).

Forgot about TBF (that b*****d Fiesta) which needed 3 engine changes in four weeks, out in the street, usually in the rain. Wasn't too sorry to see the back of that one...

I have had bikes and cars and they only ever had one name each.
First named by a greatly missed (RIP) mate when my Cooper S left his Fiat somethingorother standing on a drive from Glasgow to Oban.

The bikes were "The two wheel beast"
The cars were "The four wheel beast"

There is a similar thread on the C4 Owners forum - spooky.

My C4 is called Foxy, from it's number plate. I used to have a Lada Niva called Ada, because the L had fallen off the badge.

Quotethat could be another thread about pet names for cars...

Your wish is my command !!!

Right then, i'll start the ball rolling...

Fiesta - fester
Volvo 340 - swedish love machine (honest !)
Citroen xsara - lemon
mondeo - mondy the first (second and third)
Volvo 740 - love boat
Astra - ashtray

And one of our buses (Volvo/ayat bravo city B7) has been named 'The ASDA bus'... Because it rolls back !

Thanks 4x2, didn't think anyone would pick up on this...

Volvo 340 - I never called it that (at least in front of SWMBO!!!)

The Escort had several names maybe not appropriate to be repeated here in front of polite company (especially when the engine and electrics died going downhill and the power steering and power assisted braking failed!)

The other half has christened the current Corsa as 'Carlos'. OK probably quite an apt name as the original topic was about 'cars losing money'! (I'm already looking for my coat)

my Skoda octavia is called Humphrey and it looks surprisingly "like that Golf!"

Does it have i-shift or is it push button ZF type fully auto gears?
I struggle to pull away smoothly with our 3 Volvo coaches with i-shift sometimes!!
My own coach, an Iveco with Plaxton Panther body, I call a pile of  :-X......
My car (an 05 Vauxhall Vectra), a call a shed on wheels - well look inside it lol

ZF push button, it hasn't done it recently so maybe it's been fixed ? (that'll be a first !)
If it's got rails... you have my full, undivided attention - Steam, diesel and electric, 'tis all good !

Fair do's, decent 'box in a bus but in a 57 seat coach its horrendous, its not even got a kick down function!!!!

Funey that as railway enthusiests (I presume most of us are enthusiastic about trains) that we critisize locomotives and emu's/dmu's for all sorts of performance reasons yet we put up with nonsense from road vehicles and comment with a degree of fondness !

I've just traded in a Renault Megane (sedan) with all of the bells and whistles for a brand new Honda. The Megane was great, everything still worked but the tax man down here demanded a change to reduce his claim upon me.

Neither had a name because neither have a descernable personality which justifies this very personnal attribute. Mind you it is early days for the Honda - so far the only concern is the fuel gauge which seems to be in error by 30%. Anyone got a suggestion to encapsulate this defect ?
