N scale cars in pewter
« on: June 16, 2017, 04:05:30 pm »
Some members may be aware of the Autosculpt range of pewter cars made for display purposes and generally in the 1/76 to 1/87 scale range. ( EDIT: Turns out they are 1/92 scale)

Copies of these now seem to be available in 1/145 scale (!) from Librairie Retrorepro in France. Although they come as key rings in over 150 different versions, there is a facility to buy bulk packs of 5, 10 or 20 models without the keyring attachments. Cars are mainly French, but there are British, German, Russian and Italian models in the range drawn from a wide time period. Not all exotic cars either. A lot of ordinary cars in the range. May be of interest for someone.

The keyrings are listed here:-

https://www.retrorepro.fr/recherche?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=etain+1%2F145e&submit_search=

And the bulk packs are here:-

https://www.retrorepro.fr/3718-etain

There is a photo on this page showing the comparison between the polished pewter models in 1/145 scale and Wiking 1/160 scale versions of the same vehicles.

http://le-forum-du-n.forumotions.net/t5169p650-nouveautes-autos

I did a sample search for the Ford cars:-

Thanks for sharing that Mike. I think I may soon become the owner of a classic Bentley. 8)

Anybody acquired any? They look good and it is a big range but as the piccies are small am not sure. Bit on the pricey side as well though.

Notable models including -
Peugeot 205 GTI
BMW 2002
Renault 5 Turbo
Ford Mustang
Morgan +4
Ford Capri
Austin Healey Sprite
The list goes on...

Best wishes
Simon

 Well that's a fail. When checking out, site won't accept my UK postcode (neither with nor without a space) and nor is the UK an option on the list of countries. Perhaps they've got the hump over brexit. :D

EDIT

Well despite check out not completing, I've received confirmation of account creation. So, I'll have another go later.

The French for United Kingdom is Royaume Uni. That is what I used registering an account.

Thanks Mike. The root of my problem was the Translation plugin in my browser. It was only translating half the countries listed, omitting those it didn't translate. Of course UK was amongst those omitted. :headbutt:

Well, done now. I think. I hope. :D

They do look very good!

The Citroen 5HP 5CV Type C would be ideal for me. It would already be about five years old by the time it appeared at Bournemouth West.

I could paint it yellow:

My Bentley arrived last week and I've just cleaned it, and given it a dusting of etch-primer.

Got a day off on Wednesday, so hopefully a chance then to provide a review. Initial impressions are good.

B&H had some nice cast metal cars a few years ago, including the new Mini, London Taxi and Ford Focus. Wonder what happened to them?

I believe the cars you're referring to were from the aspect model making range, a little-known range of architectural models. Not widely available, but available from this site.

http://modelsupplies.net/index.php?route=product/category&path=97_110

I believe you have to spend a minimum of £25 per order, and while you can specify the scale, the actual models are packed at random. Like in real life, you just see what cars turn up! Most of the cars in this scene from that range. The mounting spigots really help on the hairpin bend.

Never sure about 'solid' cars, but those look ok. Presumably price is per unit?

I can't accept them. The Bentley is OK with the hood down and I'll upgrade the solid windscreens to clear glazing.
