Another update - I succeeded in uploading the required files to pcbway.com (after one failed attempt, and then them having to email me as I'd not included the drill file) and the boards are now in production. I did opt for the cheapest delivery method, so they won't be here for a few weeks yet.

So far pcbway has been brilliant, I can't fault their service, and if the boards are half as good as others I've seen from them I'll be well chuffed. I just hope I haven't done anything wrong with the board design....

Just stumbled on this thread... DipTrace is a fantastic application and allows easy exporting of GERBER files. Glad you're having fun with it

I've used PCBWay https://www.pcbway.com/ for several projects including the SPUD

I also had some relay boards made (drawn up in DipTrace) and for prototype boards come out every bit as good as "production" boards

Despite me saying this only 9 days ago, I came home earlier today to find a small box waiting for me  :claphappy:

The PCBs are beautifully made - with them being so small (just 14x14mm) I wondered if there'd be some issues with squareness (or lack thereof), or possibly some rough edges, but they're pretty much perfect! If I absolutely had to pick a fault with them, the solder resist is not quite lined up perfectly with the holes on a small number of the boards, but we're talking a couple of tenths of a millimetre here! Certainly not anywhere near enough to cause any issue. Anyway, here they are:

Luckily, the headers were also waiting on the doormat today too, so I was able to test-fit one of those, along with the microswitch:

I don't have a soldering iron here, so I can't solder it up (yet) but the holes are sized such that the components hold themselves in quite well - if anything, the holes are slightly undersized for the pins on the switch & it took a bit of force to get it in. Again though, not enough to cause a problem.

In summary, I couldn't be happier with the boards, or the service from pcbway.com.

Next time I'm at the club (Monday, or possibly Tuesday) I'll get one soldered up & fitted to a servo!

Am I impressed? Oh yeah!  Lovely job.
Can I ask what the individual price for these ended up as?
"When in trouble, when in doubt, run (trains) in circles..." etc.
There, doesn't that feel better?
Lovely!

Sure, of course.

The base cost for the PCBs was $20.00; post from HK was $10.00; plus there was a $2.00 fee for paying via PayPal. Total $32.00. Taking into account the exchange rate charged by PayPal, I ended up paying 25.78, which works out at 0.516 (or just over 51 1/2 pence) each. That's a bargain, in my book

Crazy prices aren't they.  Cheaper than buying the PCB, press n peel, and enchant ate trying to do it your self.  Plus the finish of a commercial board always looks the part :)

Nice boards, looking forward to seeing your next PCB design

Tonight I got the first board soldered up, fitted, and checked:

Here's a short video of it on test:

Once I was happy that everything was OK, I made a small batch of 5 more:

Really happy with how these have turned out!
