Good if quiet day at Romford today. One strange fault involving poor electrical contact on a point blade. Quickly fixed but I'll investigate why the seep switch didn't come into play later.

Now back home and waiting for the "catering department" to supply food. Once fed I'll be cleaning wheels ready for tomorrow.

This update is a little late for reasons that will become clear.

Sunday was a good day. Nice to meet Ray (REGP).
This weekend was a weekend for Seep motors to play up and the switching of one motor on the single slip decided to go and enjoy the sunshine outside. It came back in after a while and normal service was resumed. One baseboard track joint appears to have moved slightly and I'll be looking at that as well.

One the way home the layout took a diversion to Pembury A&E as I received a call to say my sister's horse had kicked her in the head! She has got away rather lightly with her cheek bone breaking out through the side of her mouth (It could have been so much worse) but it meant I didn't get home until very late and the car wasn't unloaded until yesterday.

Seconded with the 'on the mend' sentiments. Shouldn't horses be taped off by the health and safety Gestapo to keep them clear of the public?  ;)

I was sorry to hear about your sisters accident and trust she is on the way to recovery.

I am more inclined to shy away from horses rather than ride them.

As to Sunday, it was good to meet you and get the chance to view your layout Southbridge in the flesh so to speak, so much better than the photos.

Just to let everyone know that Southbridge will be venturing out again over the weekend of 1st/2nd March to the Tenterden show.

Details can be found at http://www.hornbymagazine.com/view_event.asp?ID=1901

Just looking at the previous post, readers will be glad to hear that my sister is fine. She has had a very, very lucky escape and she knows it. Thanks for everyone's kind words.

Southbridge is all packed up ready for the long drive tomorrow evening (One whole mile) to the Tenterden show.

Stock cleaned, loco wheels nice and clean. Lubrication where required.

Oh yes! There's a chance of snow

Had a good day at the Tenterden Show today. No sign of any NGF members but (hopefully) three invites to other shows in the pipeline.

The only down side was the Gauge 1 live steam layout in the same hall. Very dirty wheels at the end of the day as a result and lots of track cleaning required tomorrow morning.

Tenterden is quite hard to reach from some parts of Kent. When I used to live in East Kent, it was often quicker to go to London and then to Tenterden. That can be rather off-putting. Anyway, I hope the show was a good one.

Good numbers attended today and yes, Tenterden isn't the easiest place to get to if you don't have a car although there is a good bus service from Ashford.

Southbridge behaved itself which is more than can be said for the visiting operators. Never seen a whole rake of open wagons berthed vertically before!  :scowl:

Only one major casualty of the weekend was a Dapol light Prairie whose centre wheels seem to have given up on the idea of turning at the same speed as the others :confused1:

Unless late invites arrive the next outing will be Bexleyheath on 20th and 21st September.

I agree with Michiel.  Lovely layout, instantly recognisable as Great Western territory even without any stock on it.  Scenery has a definite Western feel to it as well.

Hello Graham,

What a fantastic layout - any chance of some more photos, including the fiddle yard please? or a track diagram?

Terrific modelling

Phil

Phil,
Thankyou. I was going to say "come and see it" but then I noticed it would be a bit of a trip. I'll see what I can do re photos. I'll include the fiddle yard although that's not very inspiring (IMHO).
