I took the opportunity it's to take some pictures whilst Lofthole Oil Terminal was out at Tadrail being exhibited. We haven't had many pictures of it on the Forum up until now....

Some beautiful weathering of stock there. Adds to the (already stellar standard of) realism of the layout.

Thanks for the posting the photos.  Great to see the tanks in such a realistic setting.  And the contrast between old and new (prototype and model) is very 2006!

Cheers

Ben A.

Argh, it's so good, I love a bit of industry. Good move putting the buildings in at an angle - makes a change from plonking everything down at right angles to the edge of the baseboard and everything else. It definitely benefits the layout.

I am now inspired to get back on with my BR blue era grimy post-industrial feel (I hope) layout which has been mothballed in its very early stages because of things like cats and needing a new roof on my house. Roof now done though and cats settled in. Now where did I put that weathering powder...?

Thanks for posting.

I too like the look of this layout for similar reasons to GroupC. I could add that I like how there is a fair amount in the scene, but it does not look at all crammed. With the current construction of a refinery on my layout, I have become a connoisseur of oil storage tanks and so appreciate very much how these have been done at Lofthole.

I love this layout   Wished I'd stuck with Kato track for my own layout now I've actually got something permanent.
