Lofthole Oil Terminal - Post Privatisation
« on: June 24, 2013, 12:44:40 pm »
Thought I would upload a few pictures of my "Lofthole" layout for those that are interested in things "postmodern".

A general shot of the oil terminal, my trusty Mainline/EWS tank engine parked in the spur:

Here is a delivery of a brand new Desiro, based on a video I found on YouTube (based on I have to say; the loco was a 66 and the containers were a different brand)

A new signal complete with working position lights, by CR signals - awesome!

Here is the train I won in the NGS "Layout on a Door" competition for my "Deanmoor" plan (Lofthole is itself on a door, of course).   Not the loco I hasten to add, just the wagons.  The 37 was new - now less shiny having been airbrushed with a layer of filth!   This train will be the first to run on the ceremonial opening of Deansmoor.

And a night time shot:

Hope you like 'em!

Jon  :)

Very good pictures Jon

I know this is trivial but one thing that caught my attention are the two coils of yellow gas pipe, they are excellent in that scene.  Your attention to detail has to be admired  :admiration:

cheers John.

Looks outstanding, good to see how a little camo can blend Unitrak into the scene.

Thanks for very nice comments guys - I'm overwhelmed!  ;D

As requested, here is a track plan

A couple of old photos, with the previous signalling scheme and not enough weathering

And a couple of video links:

What does the factory make?  I.e. what sort of traffic features, apart from the oil tankers serving the oil terminal?

Aaah Phil, an excellent question......

It is called "Rocket Industrial Products" - generally goods inbound and outbound are nondescript cargowaggons, steel hoods and BDAs with steel components.  But every so often a mysterious train arrives with very high security, (solidiers travelling in a Queen Mary brake van) which picks up a couple of huge shiny white ship launched surface to air missiles for delivery to Devonport!

It's pure fantasy and an excuse to use my NGS QM brake van; but children (and many adults) really like it!

Cheers   Jon  :)
