I am having a major loft clearance session and I am about to throw away about 150 Graham Farish boxes; mostly the short ones that four-wheeled wagons come in and the longer ones that bogie wagons and coaches come in.   Just before they go to the dump, is there any use for them that someone somewhere might have.... ???

Thinks: 150 boxes....that's about £2000 in stock......blimey!

Cheers Jon  :)

eBay as a job lot? Someone may want them.

If you should ever come to sell any of your stock (perish the thought) you might well get a better price if they are boxed. Balance that against the need to tidy up or release the space.

When I changed from OO gauge to N years ago, I was glad I'd kept the boxes for my locomotives and carriages. I hadn't kept the boxes for some of the wagons, so these went for a song.

It's a fair point, but all of my stock is modified and weathered so unlikely to have much resale value and I have just got to the point of wanting less stuff hanging round!   Also throwing away a printer, cassette deck, two computer monitors, (in perfect working order) and several boxes of cassettes....such is modern life!  :confused1:

Cheers. Jon   :)

If you are near a preserved railway, some of them would like old magazines donated to sell for funds; also some loco preservation societies.

Don't be too paranoid about weathered and modified stock. Weathered stock can go for very good money as long as it is done to a reasonable standard, it doesn't have to be by a 'professional' just done so it looks good. I think some boxes would still make the value more, I wouldn't write it all off as worthless!

Thanks guys,

Good ideas, just a bit too late:  Railwaygun picked up the boxes this morning  :) and mags went in the recycling this afternoon

I am expecting some movement in the structure of the house as the massive weight in the loft gets relieved!

Cheers Jon  :)
