Gresley Triplet Restaurant Set

I am posting this on behalf of a friend of mine who is working on this kit, at this moment in time he has offered to produce more of the kits if there is enough interest.

They would come as a complete kit, but they will be a soldered construction so would not be for the beginner as there are many parts to put together, he doesn't have a price at the moment as the roof details have still to be worked out, but in his own words, it won't be cheap as he has included all the tables, seating etc.

I am not as such touting for business and will not make a penny out of this venture if the kits are made available to all, but I will be getting one for myself when things are finalised. I was just putting an offer out there to anyone who is interested.

I'm afraid the Restaurant set is a bit too specialist for me, although I would love it if someone produced a quad-art kit.

That said, I wish your friend all the best and hope he gets enough orders to make it a reality.

Both are on my radar. At the moment I'm finishing up the designs on some vans for use as casting masters, then I have the fun of learning how to resin cast properly!

I'm working on an articulation unit for my GNR composite twin which, if successful, can be adapted to a range of articulated stock.

I think Colin proposed a quad art for Ultima when he owned it, but I don't know if he actually sold any. It doesn't seem to appear on Etched Pixels/Ultima website. (note Alan re-opens on Feb 1st!).

Chris Higgs (Masterclass) did some quad arts. Ultima did the triplet restuarant car and I have most of the bits for it, but it relies upon a no longer floor and some other bits that need redoing in 3D. I seem to remember someone on here was doing resin casts to match the Ultima sides ?

What I did for the LNER non corridor articulated stock was to etch a small metal loop and arm with screw holes. The loops clip on top of each other directly over the Dapol bogie pin and the arms screw into the floor of the coaches. Makes it very easy to build, strong and also means you can disassemble the pair if needed. I did look at close coupling systems but they would have made the kits much harder to build and get running well.
