Past release history

Morning all. Anyone know if there's a list hiding on the web somewhere of actual release history for farish and Dapol n scale models? As in when I'm bidding on eBay I can check and see if say a 4mt is an early farish one with pizza wheels or a later Chinese one or even a DCC ready one? Or if I'm shopping at say Hattons I know if I'm buying the latest release version of a particular class i.e. The best mouldy being used or an earlier version of a castle etc?

Can't directly answer your question, but someone will... just wanted to say that I own one of the old Poole ones, and it's one of my favourite models.

I believe it was one of their last, if not the last.

this is a list to-I think-2012 of all Farish by Bachmann models. I haven't checked, but I don't think the Poole releases are on it. they may be-I haven';t looked.

Hi - I thought of that too but when I checked, it does not show release dates.
There is a site called "Farish Shed" that has a bit more history I believe ?

I recall seeing a complete list somewhere on the web whilst searching for something else, but I'm darned if I remember where. I'll keep thinking.

Even with the more recently-tooled releases, it can sometimes be as well to avoid the earlier releases using the tooling - for example the first releases of the current Class 47 model had too big a gap between the body and the bogies (corrected on later releases), or the 57 which started out with solder-point DCC capability and fixed couplings but at different times since has been modified and the latest releases have standard 6-pin DCC sockets and NEM couplers.

Geoffc, great site thnaks for that. I mainly have steam locos however, but when I build my monster layout it will be massively rule 1 based, I have probably 50 or so steam locos but a revolution pen doling inbound along with a couple of hst125 9 car rakes. I'm not proud, if I like the look of it it's running on my layout !
Main problem is ive about 85 locos, all dc,  I think 2 I've bought dcc chipped, about 20 are dcc ready, and the rest need converting...

And of course finish the track plan, I'm not even going to think about the cost of that, with some 500 wagons,200 coaches, 85 locos that's a lot of storage/fiddle space I need....

That UK N Gauge list site looks very good as far as it goes.

As a Continental N modeller I usually use www.spurweite-n.de/, which has some British N listed but naturally focuses more on the foreign stuff.  There are one or two other similar sites eg. http://www.spur-n-datenbank.de/

Didn't N Gauge Now! produce a directory of N gauge locos a year or so back?
I'm sure I have one somewhere but have had a brain shutdown
